From my experience, it's really not a big deal unless you want to have "XP Mode." I believe that you need the professional version for that.
But it was jut announced that Windows 8 is being released Oct. 26, so maybe just hold out for that. I've been playing around with the pre-release version on an old laptop of mine and it seems pretty fast and snappy so far. Seriously, it made a 5 year old laptop feel like new... but then again I haven't installed any software that could potentially bog it down.
- why would you want xp mode? I'd go for NT mode instead.Llyod
