Vector shapes: even more useful. You can paste a one color logo from Illustrator and not have to ever open Illustrator again like you would if you made it a Smart Object. If you just pasted pixels, then go back to school and do not collect $200. You can also edit your shape on the fly and again not have to worry about scaling up.
