It is more for objects and playing with photography rather than portraits. I am interested in the exposure/bokeh effects.
What I can see that opinions are divided about 50mm and 35mm. I am an amateur and not going to do serious photography at all.
Interesting thing is, that both lenses (50mm f/1.8 G and 35 f/1.8G) have almost the same price tag, around EUR210.
