Like i said, this lens is excellent, and was what I started with when I got my D90. Lots of people seem to like it. I've got it, and a 50mm f1.8, and an old Sigma 70 - 210 that my stepdad gave me.

Not to stray too far from this conversation, but I'm planning to buy a new telephoto/zoomlens before our trip to Iceland in August, and I am looking at two different Tamron lenses:

    Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8

    or
Tamron SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD

Hard decision. Second one is smaller, longer zoom range, vibration control. First one is shorter zoom range, but is also f2.8. Also bigger, heavier, might be a pain to travel with.

Our other option is to not buy any new lenses at all and get my fiance a better digital point and shoot.

    Any opinions here?
