My bro is primarily a flash developer but does print work too and recently got a v nice Sony viao 4 gig ram, t6600 CPU and it works like a beast. Cost him about £600.
It could open complex a4 print 300 dpi Photoshop files in about 5 seconds.
Refer to that benchmarking link I posted above for CPU performance. Without it, it can be nightmare finding out what you're paying for!
