1987, I was 13 years old - and was told by a friend, that this one girl named Christian thought I was really cute. I had only seen her once before at a party the previous and didn't fully recollect what she looked like. I was still incredibly excited about the prospects, and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen when I would see her at this party the following Friday. Only problem was, that I had a paper-route on Saturday mornings at the time, where the papers had to be delivered by 6am. But surely that was going to stop me from meeting the potential love of my life.
Friday night rolls around, and being told by my parents to be home no later than 10pm, I show up at the party in my fresh new turquoise Robe Di Kappa sweatshirt and rolled up snow-wash jeans. And there she was - running towards me. I was fairly shy at the time, and was immediately excited that she was making the first move. As she came close to me, I realized that she had already had WAY too much to drink and was overly handsy. Didn't really bother me though, as I found here somewhat attractive, and the remote possibility of any physical encounter with a female was the equivalent of winning the lottery for me at the time. Needless to say, we ended up in some bedroom, and there were inexperienced and clueless hands and tongues everywhere. I have no idea how long fooled around, but I do remember enjoying the experience while I could the kids dancing to a Wet Wet Wet song on the other side of the door. At some point though, we must both have fallen asleep. I woke up, and in quickly realized panic, glazed over at my pop-swatch watch showing 7:26 am. I ran out of there and got on my 5-speed bike as fast as I could, hoping somehow my parent wouldn't have noticed me not being home on time. As I got closer to my house, I could tell by light in the kitchen window that wasn't going to be the case, so I slowly entered the door to take my medicine. To wrap it up, my parents were furious of course, and I got grounded for 2 weeks. I also got fired from the paper route. But I did start going steady with Christina, and I think it lasted a whole 3 weeks or so. Ahhhhh... the memories.
