if you're here on a Tuesday night and looking for something different, look for Café Sablo. It's in the MileEnd neighbourhood.
improv rap, reggae, jazz, swing, whatever. generally just amazing. very very small with just great music.

On St-Denis there's 'Bières et compagnie'. a good place to discover a shitload of canadian and foreign beers. good restaurant too. You can eat austrich and moose burgers, etc. etc. etc.

still food wise, Schwartz on St-Laurent. Historical hebrew smoked meat sandwhich place. always has a huge line. worth the wait. every time i go its an experience. last time i sat with a bunch of Russian tourists. we had no idea what we were saying to each other, but we had a good time with them anyways.

and finally : La Banquise. to try out arguably the BEST poutine in town. Near Mont-Royal, on Rachel. near Parc Lafontaine.
