you may need to edit at the pixel level to get it looking good.
1) try setting at 200% then reducing to half. It'll be soft, but might look okay.
2) create a new layer, fill it white, then ctrl click the text layer (in layer palette) to select the transparency, and apply that as a mask to your white layer. dodge/burn the mask to tighten up the serifs.
3) get a 1px pencil tool @ 10% opacity and start clicking some definition into the text.
