i've been having the classic symptoms for a while now...hands falling asleep at night, a little numbness in the fingertips, etc...
I made an appointment with a neurologist and he ran some test which basically involves gently shocking you and timing how long it takes the electricity to travel through your nerves.
my readings came out fairly normal, so the doc said to try wearing those oh-so-flattering braces and watch the ergonomics of my work area.
i've been doing both (though wearing the braces is kind of uncomfortable so i don't do it so much). its been about a month and my symptoms have gotten a little better.
i think the biggest difference is how i position my hands when i sleep at night. if the wrist is crooked then my hand winds up falling asleep in the middle of the night.
i'm only 25 and the doc said basically at this point there's not much you can do. I guess the bottom line is to try to make yourself as comfortable as possible and don't worry too much about it until the symptoms progress.
