use thicker paper than normal?
140 lb? 200 lb? 10,000 lb?plastic papers (printable)?... they're a bit flimsy though
gold/silver foils look cheasy to me... maybe I just haven;t seen them doen right... but you can get some cool effects by screening a spot colour over one of those metalic pantone inks...
varnishes could be cool too.
you could always try to source some interesting materials... maybe a thick rice paper, or some like, handmade paper stuff made out of like, dried maple leaves in resin... the world is your oyster.
