'Gravity' slammed by scientist
According to world-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the film is littered with inaccuracies in its depiction of space.
For example, Tyson wrote on Twitter, why was Bullock's hair, "in otherwise convincing" zero-gravity scenes, not floating "freely on her head"?
- deGrasse Tyson has both an ego and a sphincter large enough to accomodate Jupiter.detritus
- This guy is a total twat. Space people are fucking annoying.CygnusZero4
- hahah you guys.. your comments are awesomeRamanisky2

I actually think one of the most impressive things about it is the special effects. It was impossible to tell what was real and what wasnt. Extremely well done. This should easily get the Oscar for best SFX. And best score I would say too. The music was excellent.

Saw it in 3D and thought it was stunning.
Story is lame, however.
- Predictable, same as every other isolation movie. This one is all about the cool visuals which make it worth it.CygnusZero4

Honestly, I thought it was incredible. I usually hate 3d movies but you really need to see it in imax.

I work at the place that did 95% the VFX on it, I'm hoping it will get the VFX Oscar.

Man, it's killing me that people are judging this movie on the basis of watching it anywhere but a 3D Imax theater. I saw it that way, and on HBO, and even if I'd never seen it in the theater, the TV format seemed very undramatic.
- so you're saying i missed my chance at IMAX which by you was the only version good enough.. oie-pill
- i guess its back to chicks in bikinis on the beach.. w00te-pill
- Well, it's just that the large format suited it better. The story is pretty basic, and the impressive part was that big format.mg33
- I agree. Has to be seen big!HAYZ1LLLA

^ e-pill, I'm mostly remarking towards some people I've heard talk about it on the radio, who only saw it on a laptop screen or TV screen for the first time.
If they said they weren't impressed, I would have told them that the experience would have been a lot more impressive in 3D/Imax.
If they said they loved it, then I would have told them "then you REALLY would have loved it in 3D/Imax."

Neil's comments are fine by me.
did any of you scoff at Hackers (1995) when they were h4xoring the Gibson? same thing probably - and we all still enjoyed the movie. or am i alone with this 90's era guilty pleasure?

johnny - i'm hacking the gibson!
hacker jolie - dude you're on a mac!
johnny - i know, but it has risc architecture
hacker jolie - ... risc is good...
johnny - it's gonna change everything!

I watched it on my computer. it was the only movie I got to see with that Popcorn app before they pulled it down. I love it. It made you feel like an astronaut. Sandra in her panties didn't hurt either.

Just saw it again.

Gonna try and see it on an evening this coming week. The Imax in Chicago has all the good seats taken for most of the upcoming shows this weekend. I will not sit on the side or the front.

Saw this movie yesterday, and it is very excellent. I think that imax and 3D both have their proper place, and that this director used them masterfully. I'd definitely recommend seeing it Imax 3D.
I read a couple critiques I agreed with which said the only slight flaw is the screenplay. There are just a couple of lines in the movie that are almost cringe-worthy. But given the effectiveness of the direction, the positively GRIPPING suspense, and the immensity of the experience, I think it's easily forgiven.
GO SEE IT.

Looks terrifying.
