- the lc 'g' feels wrongGnash
- The alignment, or lack thereof, of the 'l' and 'Switzerland' is really awkward.set
- completely agree with gnash, they should have went with this style: http://www.illuminan…
it's more google_niko - they fixed the alignment of 'l' and Switzerland:

I gave it a day, and I actually kind of like it. But I find it surprisng every time I use the search or Gmail, because I'm not used to seeing it.
Still, it's clean and playful. I like it.
- yep same. perfect evolution and looks so clean on all devices. what did people expect when improving a basically bad logo - but they did improve it.fadein11

- Yea it's a bit fluffy. Should be solid I think. Works nicely on Google+ ....
http://i.imgur.com/u…set - Yeah, that reads a lot clearer. I wonder if they'll incorporate the same 'G' into Gmail in future as well...BuddhaHat

The kerning sucks. It gets too tight at the l.

Everything about the logo sucks -- the lettering, the colors, the shape, etc. etc.
It's just a bad logo. Period. Nothing special about it.
Had this not been a logo for Google, NOBODY would bother justify its creation and NOBODY would ever call it a "good" or "great" logo.
- you said this :)monospaced
- you remembered :-)chukkaphob
- But it is a logo for Google. So, the colours and what preceded it are essential to how one feels about it.MrT
- You clearly have absolutely no idea what you're talking about :)set
- Fuck this. Google is killing it with design and this comment is pure ignorance :)qoob
- Jesus, from a brand perspective what the fuck were you expecting?Ianbolton
- design exists in context, & this is an amazing bridge from where they are to where they go. the equity they've build is worth millions...showpony
- how dumb would it be to just throw away all that equity because you don't "like" the colors...showpony
- sounds like the shit i hear from junior designersdirtydesign
- Calm your tits, guise. I was talking about the original logo which in turn created the branding continuity constraints that affected the redesign.chukkaphob

I can't believe all the hate over this new logo. Such lazy critique. When you consider all the ways that this identity SYSTEM has to flex, how could any designer not applaud this? This is solid work.

at least they got rid of the fucking bevel.

accessing google docs is a pain in the ass. maybe because i use multiple google accounts... but still...
need to switch accounts, takes me to google drive, google drive has no hierarchy what so ever, can't find the most recent file I was working on, so then I google "google sheets", takes me to the sheets app page, click "access sheets", now back on previous google account... FUCK... switch accounts again, re do the search again, finally somehow stumble onto my google sheets account. UGH. every single time.
- Agreed...every single time that I get a google doc emailed to me, I have to request for access.utopian
- Just a note. Click 'recent' in the side menu or switch to list view (top right) and click on "last modified"voiceof
- Use different browsers with different logins. Also, what voiceof said, Drive has a last modified sorting method.face_melter

Google employees confess all the worst things about working at Google
"There are students from top 10 colleges who are providing tech support for Google's ads products, or manually taking down flagged content from YouTube, or writing basic code to A|B test the color of a button on a site."
"Any improvement not based on a hard metric was flatly not a respected use of time," said a former Google software engineer. "Usability? Number of bugs? Nobody cared. If you couldn't measure it, nobody was interested in it."
"Work/life balance. What balance? All those perks and benefits are an illusion. They keep you at work and they help you to be more productive. I've never met anybody at Google who actually [took] time off on weekends or on vacations. You may not hear management say, 'You have to work on weekends/vacations' but, they set the culture by doing so - and it inevitably trickles down."
"They hire the same person over and over again," said an anonymous commenter. "Same background, same 10 schools, same worldview, same interests. It's no exaggeration to say that I met 100 triathletes in my three years at Google. Only a handful of them were interesting people."
- well, thanks utopian, I'll make sure to save this article for when I build my multibillion company :)GeorgesIV

http://www.qbn.com/t…yuekit - And did Google force any of these employees to apply and start working there? C'mon now. Doesn't even sound all that bad for a student's first job.chukkaphob
- Plus, pay/benefits are good/great. Not to mention having Google on the resume paves the way for a decent career.chukkaphob
