I took a gun safety course with police trainers a while ago. Was really good... but you get some really odd people. One person asks how many hand guns he could buy in a month... why do you need to know this? Was he planning on buying 20? It just sort of freaks you out :(
- My uncle has a huge arsenal of weapons for no other reason that it's just fun for him to shoot them at a range.CygnusZero4
- Most people that buy guns are collectors and shooting enthusiasts, and not looking to shoot up theaters.CygnusZero4
- 'Most' people. And the others?detritus
- The others will get guns if they want them even if they're banned. Cocaine is banned, people still get it though.CygnusZero4
- how about this... if you are caught with a gun, you get life in prison automatically. who the F would want a gun then?CanHasQBN
- As long as punishments are lax, people are willing to take the risk... with cocaine... or whatever it may be.CanHasQBN
- The problem is PEOPLE, not the things they use. If guns are banned people will still get them.CygnusZero4
- Weed is banned. Pretty sure millions are getting that. Many guns in the US are not registered. Gun laws wont fix that one bit.CygnusZero4
- Cyg, if guns are banned. Nobody would take one out of their own house. Government would shut down all gun manufacturers..CanHasQBN
- manufacturers. We could easily get rid of all guns. Even just by ending the production of bullets.CanHasQBN
- Gun laws work plenty great in other countries, including here in Australia. Your argument is flawed.inteliboy

How do we feel about legalising the public sale small-scale nuclear weapons?
For hunting, you understand.
if not them, then why not guns?
If them then... are you fucking batshit crazy?
- erm "if not them, then why guns?" even. Way to unbalance my own point.detritus
- says the briti_was
- We must have the right to bear personal nuclear bombs! I don't feel safe otherwise.Beeswax
- "says the brit", i_was?
Your slightly abrasive point being..?detritus - just think a bit about it and stop the snobberyi_was
- Fax_Benson0
but most nuclear arms owners are perfectly reasonable people merely exercising the right to defend their property.

If you outlaw nuclear warheads, only outlaws will have nuclear warheads.

I think they're about to enter the apartment. There's a helicopter video feed right here:

"If you outlaw nuclear warheads, only outlaws will have nuclear warheads."
Which is why America is a fucked-up place either way
In Europe, of course , everyone has long understood that the problem is solved by reducing the number of outlaws. The extensive welfare/social programs/free education as a form of hidden unemployment etc/ are in fact explained selfishly, ie. "i don't want to live among dregs and would gladly pay for it".
But in America a question like "should guns be legal for protection when going to a movie theater" make perfect sense, and people are having seemingly meaningful discussions about it.
Of course not seeing the root of the problem, which is the byproduct of their social model, where 10% are outlaws, 60% are functional illiterates and the rest are religious fanatics of some kind

"Firearm availability and homicide rates across 26 high-income countries."
Hemenway D, Miller M., Harvard Injury Control Research Center, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston,
Result: In simple regressions (no control variables) across 26 high-income nations, there is a strong and statistically significant association between gun availability and homicide rates.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubm…
"Firearm availability and unintentional firearm deaths, suicide, and homicide among 5-14 year olds."
Miller M, Azrael D, Hemenway D., Harvard School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management, Boston, Massachusetts 02115, USA.Conclusion - A disproportionately high number of 5-14 year olds died from suicide, homicide, and unintentional firearm deaths in states and regions where guns were more prevalent

"Guns in the Home and Risk of a Violent Death in the Home: Findings from a National Study"
CONCLUSION: Larger studies are needed to examine more closely possible confounding factors such as the national tendency toward violent solutions, and more information on the type and availability of guns will be helpful in future studies. Nevertheless, the correlations detected in this study suggest that the presence of a gun in the home increases the likelihood of homicide or suicide.

"Firearms: Jurisdictions with restrictive firearms legislation and lower firearms ownership tend to have lower levels of gun violence."- less guns = less gun violence sure, but not less violence which is the core issue.albums
- I disagree. In the UK we don't have guns available as easily. It's much harder to fuck 60 people up in a theatre with a knife.orrinward2
- knife. Also, the gun crime rate is significantly higher in the US than perhaps any other MEDC.orrinward2
- mexico has more firearm deaths than the us per capita each year and in mx guns are 100% illegalmoldero

"Jurisdictions with restrictive firearms legislation and lower firearms ownership tend to have lower levels of gun violence"
Makes sense doesn't it?
However, it will never happen in the U.S. for cultural reasons
- less guns = less gun violence sure, but not less violence which is the core issue.albums

I meant to include links to the statistics in the dropping gun crime rates in the US to show how causality and correlation are very difficult in complex social issues.

IN BREAKING NEWS: Stabbings crimes are on the rise... Steak knives removed from dept store shelves.
Ignorant thinking applies the violence to the gun, somehow relieving the attacker of all responsibility.
- seriously dude?
Miguex - seriously. removing guns will not remove violence, lowering gun violence is irrelevant, as other violence will rise.albums
- People are stupid. They think if you ban guns it fixed the problem. Lulz, ok.CygnusZero4
- stupid people+guns=horrible violence
stupid people+...=stupid peopleformed - albums, among 1st world nations, the US has the laxest gun laws and the most gun-related deaths.CanHasQBN
- also, your knife analogy is absolutely ridiculous.CanHasQBN
- You can go on a killing spree with a kitchen knife. It's a deadly weapon. Should they be banned?CygnusZero4
- that.CygnusZero4
- albums why you so dumb?ernexbcn
- anything can be a deadly weapon if you hit someone with it hard enough...CanHasQBN
- point is, these object serve other needed purposes (knives = cooking).CanHasQBN
- ... while the gun is solely used to kill.CanHasQBN
- all it takes is a spike in crime and a reactionary public to make bad legislationalbums
- seriously dude?

Yeah, 'cause if dude had stormed a movie theater armed with 5 knives there would have been 12 people dead...
- Haha, exactly. How people can equate guns with a knife is beyond me.formed
- surprisingly easy to walk up behind someone one stab them and walk away, you're not scared because no one has told you to be yetalbums
- you to be yetalbums
- Someone can punch me, too, or slam bottle on my head, but ALL of those I can defend against and they need to be able to touch meformed
- able to touch me. A gun you can hit me from a mile away. HUGE difference, no?formed

if it was this guy, they'd all be dead

"less guns = less gun violence sure, but not less violence which is the core issue."
Finding a cure for AIDS will cure AIDS, sure, but it won't cure all diseases. Best not to bother curing AIDS.
- People get diseases, not guns.Fax_Benson
- Disease guns. Chillingly inevitable.Fax_Benson
- if you believe there is a cure to aids, why is there no cure for the common cold?albums

less fatty food = less fatness sure but it won't necessarily lead to a healthy lifestyle. best not stop eating fatty foods.
- so you'd ban (the eating of) fatty foods?Fax_Benson
- Me and a few pals like to go up into the woods and eat fatty foods on the weekend.Fax_Benson
- Recreationally. It doesn't harm anyone. We've all got doctor's certificatesFax_Benson
- don't stop me responsibly nibbling on a pastry just because some tubby fucker goes crazy with anFax_Benson

Why is the chick with the 3 month old and the 4 year old in the theatre lying about what happened?
-Her boyfriend dropped the baby and left her and the kids.
-Her boyfriend jumped in the car and drove away.
-Another guy helped her and the kids.
-That guy got shot in the leg putting himself between the kid and the bullet.During interviews, she neglects to mention most of this. She also said that it was her who put pushed the kid and got shrapnel on her leg, totally omitting all other facts.
Orignal account, also plenty of videos of them telling the same story.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/couple-…
After it is know what happened, the story takes on a different tone:
http://abcnews.go.com/US/colorad…She's obviously trying to cover up her boyfriends cowardliness and their bad parenting.
- Saw the bf speak. I was embarrassed for him. Of course, I wasn't in the situation, but the chick had more balls.Gucci
- flashbender0
who takes a three month old to the fucking theatre?

Ignorance is believing because a person does not have access to a gun that they will get over whatever made them want it in the first place.
"Fuck this guy, I'm gonna fucking kill this bitch, get my gun... What? They're illegal now? Oh that mother fucker is lucky guns are illegal, I'm over it."
yeah, that will never happen.
- so the guy didn't die of gun wounds but was beaten within an inch of his life. that's better for society how?albums
- Correct, being beaten within an inch of your life is better than death.CanHasQBN
- Besides, if you are being beaten, at least you have a chance to escape, and a MUCH better chance of living.CanHasQBN
- < Yeah, obvious facts are obvious. Unless you would rather be shot than beaten up.ukit2
- apparently albums does not recognize the difference.CanHasQBN

I can tell you one thing for sure, it will eliminate all impulse shootings. You know, flip a guy off in traffic and get your head blown off... insult someones wife at the bar and get your head blown off... go to the store for some Skittles and get your head blown off. All non-premeditated gun crimes will disappear. If guns were actually illegal, it would take days/weeks/months to find an illegal gun dealer, and you can bet the angry person would have cooled off by then.
These clowns reaching for their gun every time they feel even mildly threatened are incapable of correctly assessing a situation.
If someone THINKS they need a gun, they are too stupid to own one.
