I love soda pop, but I stopped drinking it entirely in 2006. Haven't had a drop. My plan is to go about 50 years or so, and then try a coke. Should be tasty.
- it'll be all corn fructose by then. 100%. In gallon jugs.TheBlueOne

If you really need a soda fix, buy a 2 litre, still legal and easier to transport without making a mess

- At first I was like, "why would McDonald's have videos of Africans in their restaurants?" and then I was likeismith
- "Oh nvm, but when did McD's put burnt chicken wings on the menu? And bones? Ick."ismith
- I hear tickets to hell are cheap this time of year.ismith
- Does he have fat rolls over his wrists??CygnusZero4
- Seriously, what's with the napkin bib? I doubt this kid rarely misses his mouth.EightyDeuce

- They have to get rid of an entire wall of beverages plus empty half the vending machines on 35 floorsmonospaced
- Yet I'm sure I'll still be able to get 500+ calorie Venti Frappuccino at the coffee place 10 ft awaymonospaced
- sodas are shit anywaysine
- I don't even drink them, I'm simply against the ban and how illogical it all ismonospaced
- Buy two, problem solved. hehZOOP
- Yeah, 2x the plastic, 2x the price, great for everyone, especially the planetmonospaced
- Not you and me (the fatties) lolZOOP
- I almost never drink anything carbonated, fruit juice tastes better anyway!ZOOP
- Fruit juices over 16oz are also banned.monospaced
- Now that part I can't understand, and even soda size should be personal choice. smh @ NYCZOOP
- If you understand that juice has as much sugar as coca-cola then you'd understand. The whole thing sucks.monospaced
- It's the type of sugar and other ingredients that make the difference for me, but I know what you're saying.ZOOP
- These retards are going by calories, but I can still buy a 20oz+ ICECREAM MILKSHAKE!monospaced
- haha and a triple bacon cheeseburgerZOOP

so stupid, people will just drink a lot more smaller ones to get their fix. what a waste of plastic.

I'll tell you one thing, I'm gonna make them live up to the ban since they're going there at work. If I can't buy a regular bottle of Coca-Cola or Ginger Ale (not that I do, but if I can't), I shouldn't be able to get anything above a Grande blended drink at the coffee place (yes, there's a Starbucks franchise in the cafeteria) either. I'll also point out that their dozens of "organic" or "natural" offerings have to go because they are also "regular calorie," so anyone who likes a regular Snapple or even a large juice (orange, cranberry, whatever) will have to buy small. If they only ban the sugary mainstream sodas, then the whole thing is just a joke.
- it's really not a joke, if you're making my health insur. higher because you high 'betes and 4 big gulps a day, fuck you.doesnotexist
- *have 'betesdoesnotexist
- no, fuck candy ;)monospaced

End of a (thinner) era: Last iconic 6.5oz glass Coke bottle rolls off the line as company focuses on much bigger sizes. 10 October 2012

We're reaching a limited choice on both ends, large and small.

Lenina Huxley: Ah, smoking is not good for you, and it's been deemed that anything not good for you is bad; hence, illegal. Alcohol, caffeine, contact sports, meat...
John Spartan: Are you shitting me?
Moral Statute Machine: John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.
John Spartan: What the hell is that?
Moral Statute Machine: John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.
Lenina Huxley: Bad language, chocolate, gasoline, uneducational toys and anything spicy. Abortion is also illegal, but then again so is pregnancy if you don't have a licence.

i like how we outlaw stupidity instead of using those resources to educate
- sad but true :(monospaced
- we do the education part. this is the other part of it.doesnotexist

All y'all addicted to soda in the USA. Shit bring dat diabeetus, fo serious.
- doesnotexist0
i'm applauding this
if you're downing sugary soft-drinks like it's water, living with diabetes and other major health concerns all while raising my health insurance, then this law is perfect for you. quit complaining.
they are stopping you from buying large coffees here, and postings say you now have to put in your own sugar and flavoring on large drinks.

It's total bullshit, actually. While it's obviously disastrous to drink your calories, there's no long-term study that says that singling out beverage sizes will actually impact anything, and I bet there's no way to actually measure the effectiveness of the program in the long-term because while I might not be able to order a 20oz Coke, I can still get that large McFlurry. The whole thing makes sense until you realize it doesn't even address most fattening beverages. Additionally, it won't apply to grocery stores, so I anyone can still buy 2 liter bottles of anything they want. And finally, now I can't go to a movie theater and buy a large Diet Coke to share with my girlfriend. The whole thing might mean well, but in the end it is unfocused.
- but grocery stores aren't really the problem, fast food is. i think that's why you see the target.doesnotexist
- and you don't see the same number of people buying mcflurries compared to sodas.doesnotexist
- right...monospaced

can you still buy a carton of cigarettes / keg of beer?
- discoduro0
- hahaha, omfg, it's just because we hate hearing people's music on the trainsmonospaced
- doesnotexist0
^ i think that in the end it is focused, and that's what you hate about it no?
- perhaps... it's really missing the bigger picturemonospaced
- americans don't understand big picture ideas. they understand these small steps, imo.doesnotexist
- this is NYC, it's not even a big picture initiative, and please don't generalize the entire nationmonospaced
- ok, since you said, "please"!doesnotexist
- doesnotexist0

Bloomberg is just a typical socialist liberal....rule by mandate rather than let the market solve the issue.
- And how does the market solve this issue exactly?TheBlueOne
