i've been watching it, i'm really impressed by it. along the lines of tim hetherington's work. not sensationalized, better than big network doc's that are out there and i've only seen a couple episodes. host is great too.

somebody on reddit decided to start documenting the show with video links and stuff,

i started watching this this week... i really like it.
the 5th episode (the India feature specifically) was great.i've always liked vice and feel like i understand where they're coming from. i also read the new york times. and the mail & guardian. and local tabloids...
i think vice is sincere. and they're not trying to present any other agenda. the simplicity of going somewhere and telling the story of what they see there is what i like about this series.

i've been watching it and have been finding it kind of ho-hum. i realize it's not going to be classic vice, but there is something that feels lacking, or unobtrusive for lack of a better term. just kind of boring.

The slums in Mumbai and the staggering number of people there was pretty unreal. Of all the things they've shown on there, maybe this was the most jaw-dropping.
Approx 350 million people living below poverty level in India - that's more than the entire population of the US, though the population of India was 1,241,491,960 in 2011. US population in 2011 was 311,591,917.
- haven't seen this one yet. i guess i better watch it and re-examine my stance on the show.lvl_13

okay, i just saw the last episode on mumbai. i have a renewed faith in the show. that was insane footage.

- and then buddy is booting around town in his gallardo(s). place is nuts.prophetone
- and every corner he turned there was another shack with like open furnaces and 10 year olds using old lathes in the dark, wtf!prophetone

I hope they do an episode about the Gross Jar.

If what I just read on wiki is correct, in the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, more than 1 million people live in an area only .67 square miles in size.
And that's apparently not even the biggest slum there.

They get used to it.

i've find i've been PVR'ing it alot lately and making a point to watch it. honestly, i do this for almost nothing nowadays.

the fat-camp section of the last episode was a bit stupid. why send the skinny dude to do the feature? had they sent a young American girl to cover it they would've gotten a much better story, even though the whole concept/story didn't have much substance anyway.
- fadein110
It's all good - Americans get to learn about the wider world.
