"... would love to be considered for the position of front-end developer MAC ONLY!!!"

Good for you mate, well done.

why are people shitting on this thread? ffs are you all that cynical?
autonomy did something out of the box creative, took a chance and succeeded. he landed a great gig and if nothing else his efforts can be used as inspiration for other designers looking to land a new job.
instead people are shitting on code and going bananas over it not working in ie6. what a bunch of insufferable cunts.
- No offense.kona
- Well if you claim to be a front-end developer you better fucking know how to make a site work cross platform.moniker

- moniker - I am working with a target audience here of 17 Mac users. Why on Earth would I want to even check it in Windows?autonoma
- Windows?autonoma
- I was with you until you said you didn't even test on Windows.Jaline
- For my part I was just being idly dry rather than cynical. Hard to tell the difference soemtimes, I know.detritus

- Nice job though. Glad you got a position.Jaline
- how can you say nice job? that the trick worked or the concept is cool? because it's been executed poorlyalbums

^ SURPWISE!
Qbn, bro.

@kona - Appreciate the response, but it's par for the course. I can (and have) posted this very same thing to multiple sites and QBN always elicits the most negative response. It's the tradeoff for a good bit of traffic.

Congrats! Nice idea!
But I also agree with albums and others that its very surprising that you didn't do the standard cross browser checks, particularly given your experience and the position applied for. You got the job so its not a problem, just learn from it and enjoy your new job! :)
And the people who call album negative for pointing this out are ridiculous. If you apply for a web job and your site doesn't work, I think it's fair enough to point it out.
Fyi on my phone the site displays incorrectly, showing the code.

Congrat's man. Jealous of your new gig.

Clever idea. Congrats.

Other than the standard "this really should work in at least IE9" stuff, I'm not sure what is so creative about a front-end developer creating a web page to show their work. If I was hiring and they sent me anything other than an actual working site I would toss it in the bin.

How's your new city treating you?

Well done on the job-getting. I could imagine this method becoming standard practice soon.

I've been using a very boxy grid approach to my resume and I've always supplied people with both a traditional 1 page resume as well as a unique/designed resume b/c I could get more info into the unique one. I've also always put these docs on my server and provided links so they can view online (without an attachment) or print out if needed.

You didn't even check it in Windows?
Fine, don't check it in ie6, whatever. But to not even check how it performs in Windows (any modern Windows browser) is just lazy as hell.
How can you ramble on about caring so much about the details, and yet you don't even bother to check it across platforms? So what if the people looking at it use Macs... you should've made sure this worked in Windows to demonstrate your capability to code for more than just OSX, because last time I checked there are a shit load of people out there who still use Windows.
Anyway, congrats on the job. I don't mean to be cynical about this. I was just shocked when I saw how nice it looked at first and then all these screenshots show up of how much it screwed up. I don't understand how you can not even consider testing it on Windows... even out of curiosity.
