Are any of you guys familiar with this YouTuber / musician?
I can't remember where I came across him, someone maybe shared it in a facebook group, but does he annoy you as much as he does me?
- haha, yep... the worst. pretty much every youtube musician needs a slap.kingsteven
- a great big hard slap @ 4:45futurefood
- This is so painful to listen to. Even him just talking, and all the standard YouTube jumpcuts and flair are outrageous.mg33
- hey, being a fan of his neon hoodies or his cheese flair or not aside, he is working to get the kids into music-making so he gets thumbs up imoprophetone
- ...or would you rather your kids watch, learn life lessons from morgz?prophetone
- but yes, small doses for me now... he was more serious, nerdy in earlier vids, now more nickelodeon performance stuff going on to draw younger crowdprophetone
- yeah, I can handle him in small doses.. not altogether annoying.. just Canadian.. baller studio thoautoflavour
- Better channel https://www.youtube.…shapesalad
- Best channel https://www.youtube.…shapesalad
- He's a 100% annoying youtuber. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't totally learn a few things from him.section_014

Crazy how Behringer went from releasing equipment known to be shit quality, to releasing every fucking synth I ever wanted. For peanuts.
- not to be a hater, but all of this stuff hasn't been out long enough for people to really know if the quality is shit.. give it a couple of years..autoflavour
- It’s Depeche-tasticprophetone
- 3:30 is greatprophetone
- heh i imagine better build quality than the originals in many cases. couldn't believe the first time i lifted an original pro-1 and it flexed in the middle.kingsteven
- one of the big problems with the old gear is it requires reflow soldering to repair... so many repair shops doing games consoles and phones these days...kingsteven
- i'd even say there's hope for my garage full of duff behringer rack gear.kingsteven
- i had one of the originals and this sounds bang on the money. without the dirty switches.hans_glib
- prophetone4
- wow! thanks!renderedred
- 1.5GBprophetone
- yup, downloading nowrenderedred
- Good grief. Is there any deadline on it?mg33
- Not sure, making rounds on Facebook posts today so it's a fresh promo and might not last?prophetone
- Looks like lots of Ableton. I assume the wav files can be loaded into Logic?mg33
- Yep, for each I just dragged all WAVs out of audio files folder into root of each folder, trashed all else, WAVs happy in Logic https://i.imgur.com/…prophetone
- Are these different from the packs that have been circulating for years?section_014
- probably, similar packs have been floating around forever but... this pack added at least 20 drum machines to my sample pile I didn't have beforehandprophetone
- autoflavour5
pumped this out the other day..
little bit fun- nice track!microkorg
- thanks, its a super crazy edit.. tried to get as much of the good bits into 1 minute.. but yep, its hardautoflavour
- followed too.microkorg
- supa' clean!keewee
- autoflavour1
- Analogue?inteliboy
- theres a 101 too.microkorg
- "fart noise". Why get this over the TR-8? Have you seen the TR-09 in person? It's very small.section_014
- yeah, its kind of why i have been avoiding them .. but the TR8 is so damn ugly.. and big.. im all out of desk space, so small in this instance is goodautoflavour
- this will have a waiting list forever im sureautoflavour
- TR-8 is hideous. Looks like a 80s/90s Radio Shack Mixer.microkorg
- http://ecx.images-am…microkorg
- They've nailed the look of it and nice touches with the original styling on buttons and knobs, i've been holding off on these lil guys but getting harderprophetone
- lack of space kinda makes this paired with a TR09 a bit of a no brainer as my dreams of owning originals is out the window for nowprophetone
- how much?Miguex
- I would get this over the TR8 based on looks aloneMiguex
- I was checking out the '101' version, sh-01a recently. I imagine buying one would just make me yearn for the real thing. Save your money!futurefood
- Behringer are working on an actual sized 101 clone seemingly. they posted photos yesterday of a girl holding one.microkorg
- ^just saw it! I hope it's not a one-off and goes into productionfuturefood

NEW SINGLE!!!
Maybe sounds a bit oversaturated in isolation - it was mastered in teh context of the album so sounds a bit more 'in the world' once it plays on the album... something i need to think about in the future (wasnt me mixing/mastering, it was a good homie @ Up In Arms Recordings in Edmonton who i think did an amazing job on the album as a whole!!)
- Love this! Plus the rest of the tracks you've posted.haga
- This is ace. I'll check out the album :-) How long did the whole album take to put together?Ianbolton
- i dig the 'keep dancing' track. reminds me of el-p style hiphop.lodef
- 'uprising'lodef
- Thanks dudes!! Ian, the album was actually a few years in the making but all in/compressed was probably maybe a month of full time style work..mantrakid
- we just kept chipping away over the years between work hahamantrakid
- keep up the good work. Loving this stuff. I wanna get lyrics into my stuff, rather than just samples, but it's taking me 6 months to get even a track finishedIanbolton

Anyone here using/used Maschine?
I have been using Maschine+ a bit more in standalone mode lately (ive used Maschine mk2, then mk3, then plus, connected to the computer / via software for like almost a decade now!)
I gotta say.... i feel stupid for not learning it sooner, it really does seem to be answering a lot of my needs and as i get deeper im realizing how much it can actually do in terms of being a dedicated sampler + looper + effects unit.
Ive been following the SP-404 updates and its hard to not feel the GAS for it but then i take a sec and think about Maschine+ and it does so much of it already.
This was just a stream of consciousness blog post... a little precursor to the fact that...
I JUST DROPPED A NEW SINGLE FROM THE UPCOMING ALBUM!!!!
Check the track @ https://songwhip.com/ghostcartri…
Presave the album @ https://ffm.to/ghostcartridge.EO…Thanks for the support homies
- i own 2 maschine licenses, a mikro, mk2, and a jam. The softeware is powerful and sounds great. Their sequencing workflow always threw me compared to ableton.imbecile
- that said, i don't use any of that hardware, nor do i use the 88 key controller on any of my analog gear. Lately, I just want to sell it all and own an MPC One+imbecile
- dope beat(s)imbecile
- Thx imbecile! Yeah it took me a bit to get into the zone when making stuff on maschine but i feel like i should have learned the hardware better cuz it feels...mantrakid
- totally different to focus entirely on the hardware / even go in standalone mode so im not even looking at a computer screen.mantrakid
- i've had those moments of effortless usage on the mk2 to edit samples w/ the tiny screen & bust out beats. i don't want to be dependent on my computer, though.imbecile
- Agreed on: "i feel like i should have learned the hardware better" Maybe a Maschine plus would be good but i'd rather save money on more hardware i can't use :Dimbecile
- I had a Micro many moons ago. Ended up winning a Maschine full size for designing a faceplate. Didnt really use it but did buy loads of their librariesmicrokorg
- and instruments that i'd pull into ableton live. never gelled with the maschine way of working either. Still got it sitting in a box.microkorg
- Have a Push2 too and thats only ever really been used as a keyboard not to its full editing/programming potential. I never RTFM.microkorg
- @mikrokorg - Does the maschine you have also have the faceplate you designed? Id love to see it!!!mantrakid

what would be a starter pack to making beats?
- abletonautoflavour
- logicfadein11
- how much money have you got to spend? a great start would be an iPad with choice apps. Next up would be buying Ableton or Bitwig....microkorg
- Then if you have more money, Ableton & Push2 or NI Maschine. If you already have a computer.microkorg
- Hardware route can be expensive but you could buy some retro groovebox.
It all depends on budget.microkorg - suppose I had $1000.dorf
- got a computer or ipad?microkorg
- yes, ipad is old though.dorf
- maschineimbecile
- computer + ableton. I don't even use Ableton. But, if I was starting today, I wouldn't even think twice.section_014
- Electron Octatrackspunji
- iPad + Korg Gadget ...best bang for the buck. Easiest to get rolling. Don't buy a retro grooveboox. Gadget is a modern day version of that + much more.sublocked

Trying to figure out a good way to play live without a laptop... and not a DJ set either...
Cutting up tracks and putting on a sampler seems right...
MPC1000?
- I have a live thin coming up soon also - have been racking my brains for best way of doing it as I am 100% logic - this is where ableton would be useful I know.fadein11
- let us know what you decide on please.fadein11
- Electron OctatrackJackson_Polyp
- yeah octatrack.. i bounce all my tracks out as stems pretty much.. 4 stems for each track, so each pattern can have 2 songs for mixing..autoflavour
- Octatrack, MPCs are daft if you're not finger drumming or driving a shit load of other gear off it.kingsteven
- i throw a 303 in there for some live elements.. but yep,. havent played with a laptop in years.. its awesome.autoflavour
- thanks guys - perfect will look into it!inteliboy
- IPad shuffle, ala Dan deacon.monNom
- MPC Live (new one) or Octatrack. If you go mpc1k get JJOS...but I'd recommend MPC Live if you're thinking MPC.sublocked
- pure data on a raspberry pi with a brainwave scanner as a controller.section_014

I see autoflavour already posted this beast, but it's a cool marketing idea from Stone's Throw to load the Roland with samples from the label and then get J-Rocc to demo
- Just got this blast from Stones Throw... it's pretty mucho $$$ at $900 usd when you can snag a used one for 300-400 less, cool thoughprophetone
- More interested in the fx echo dub siren he's got... a Pyung Pyung Machine, SO-A005 Mintos Model, limited run of 50 w/ LFO, filter, analogue delay, pitchprophetone

- cool article prophet, cheersBuddhaHat
- look I am a massive stones throw fan, and was super amped to see this, until I actually saw the design. its impossible to read of the buttons textautoflavour
- also, not to hate, but it just looks a bit ass. like that weird Dazzle camouflage they used to paint war ships. also was more interested in studio behind himautoflavour

I'm looking for a standalone groovebox to make low-fi demos on that will later be entirely redone elsewhere, in the genre of Air's Moon Safari. More low-fi jazz than pure electro.
Up to $1k.I need a sampling function and great sounding synths to avoid having to connect more gear to it, also need a song mode.
Don't necessarily need midi out, will not be connecting it to a computer. The key being for it to be intuitive and fun to use.
I've had an MPC One and hated its UI though it's without a doubt one of the best machines out there.
Was considering the MC-707 but no song mode, seemed perfect otherwise.Right now it looks like my sweet spot would be between the Roland MV-1 (despite its tiny screen) and NI Maschine +
I haven't looked too deeply into it yet but the Maschine + button setup and interface might be the most logical to me.Would love some recommendations or opinions on these.
- An iPad + keyboard & knob controllers. Infinite apps/instruments/eff...
Korg Module (for mobile) is astounding and def some good lofi jazz keys!microkorg - There are apps that work like Live/Maschine song/jam modes.microkorg
- iPad
Faderfox EC4 (displays params)
USB Midi Keyboard

WIN! ;)microkorg - Ah.. hadn't considered an ipad at all, and I have a pro haha! I liked the idea of a dedicated machine but I'll check Module and will think about it!spl33nidoru
- Used OP-1 could do all that. Perfect for kicking stems out to be redone elsewhere. Quirky UI thouletterhead
- SP404MK2 is great & tons of fun. Sample synths from the iPad and it becomes an all-in-one grooveboxletterhead
- I had my eyes on the SP404 at some point but got into Koala on ios and realised I didn't want to rely so much on external sources. Good one though!spl33nidoru
- Mate, post the results when you settle on something!
<3 Air. And their ilk.Continuity - Will do!spl33nidoru
- sounds like you are describing and OP-1autoflavour
- ^ I should check its synth engines, always assumed it was sonically closer to a digitakt kind of vibe.spl33nidoru
- hmmmm. digitakt is a sampler so it will play back whatever you load it.. OP-1 doesn't really sound like many other synths in a wayautoflavour
- https://synthstrom.c…sandbag
- Right auto, I meant Digitone.
sandbag, I was checking the Deluge last night, too many good options I don't know how to choose anymore, this will not end well !spl33nidoru - After further research I decided to go with the MV-1 despite its shortcomings. Cheaper all-in-one, great sound engine, so-so sampler but will do the jobspl33nidoru
- And I can use my ipad as ext display to make things easier.
Thanks for your inputs! This guy finished convincing me.
https://youtu.be/SQC…spl33nidoru - ps microkorg and letterhead : Korg Module is def worth integrating through the iPad, and a SP might come in handy later to compensate for MV1' sampling weaknessspl33nidoru

- Pretty great
https://opal.fors.fm…prophetone - pity its max for live only, that looks sweetkingsteven
- Cool. Looks like a Max for Live version of the Elektron Syntakt in a few ways.mort_
- Yeah def syntakt-ishprophetone
- its not only max for live.. its need ACTUAL max.. I got burned.. I have M4L and it wont runautoflavour
- ooft, the terminology around all that max -> msp -> ableton -> live -> suite is a bullshit. always hated cycling 74's pricing, seems even worse with abletonkingsteven
- Pretty great

- The OBEGRÄNSAD collection hit local IKEA today... bought six small stands, two large ones - I put them together in the pic for refprophetone
- Could have larger drum machine or mixer up top, two small ones in from side-by-side, do this on left/right of a computer setup etcprophetone
- Cheap as dirt, will work well esp for drum machines, controllers, maybe effects pedals, just gets it all elevated and tilted, buys some desk spaceprophetone
- peep the paper mache Push 2prophetone
- I got two of the tablet/drum machine stands the other week. Pretty decent. Only been using one. Figure the other one might fetch twice its price on ebay latermicrokorg
- all great gear, this just came along as my office was relegated to the box room and i cleared them out haha https://imgur.com/Yf…kingsteven
- got a couple of the stands. spotted my local ikea has a little stash of the teenage engineering stuff left (going for 3x the price) so may 'invest' in thatkingsteven
- @kingsteven how is that audient evo 16 box? Is a good purchase? Mac is happy? I am real interested in one, love how tidy it is.prophetone
- That's a nice set up KingstevenIanbolton
- the evo is really tidy, took a while to get used to one knob (esp. for headphones and monitor level) the interface is genius. have my focusrite 18i20 on a 10mkingsteven
- ADAT cable going in to one of the optical ins, and using that for synths at the other side of the room. I have one small issue with EM interference due to thekingsteven
- proximity with my left monitor (assuming LEDs on the front panel emitting a faint whine when dimmed) i may just need to isolate the power (or just move the unitkingsteven
- a foot) i'm sure i'll work it out. i think i'm just sus because of how cheap this was. i was considering a £2.4k UAD Apollo, so this is mindblowing for 400 quidkingsteven
- I need disscarabin
- Just the shelf unit thoughscarabin
- FYI prophet, got on to Audient support about the tone and they got back this morning with a new firmware that fixes it. Definitely sold 100% on this unit nowkingsteven
- Thanks for the heads up! I am seriously considering it, this is good to know.prophetone
