Seriously Boz, with this thread you somehow crossed some threshold putting you solidly in a troll bracket. For awhile it was just a part of you, but you seemed to be consumed by this supposed "battle" that is raging between Apple and the competition. Learn to read a freaking report properly Boz. It's actually showing Apple's market share growing. Android's big surge isn't at Apple's expense, but at RIM's and Symbian's. But I guess you only get a hard on if you convince yourself Apple is going down.

The numbers don't seem crazy though, there are a lot of cheap Android phones being offered by phone companies now. We'll see by 2012. The prediction it's also smartphone only so iPad and iPod Touch are not being considered, so it's not a complete iOS vs. Android prediction.
It's shaping up like the current PC and Mac market, a huge bunch of manufacturers building pretty much the same stuff with less profits and Apple creating a different thing while making heaps of money, and in my opinion better shit than the rest.

I just posted Gartner report with impressive analysis and prediction that Android will run on 50% of world's smartphones by end of next year - NEXT YEAR DIPSHIT not 4 years.. out of that you get all butthurt and start writing shit and feeling somehow personally violated, In addition you don't miss out on the opportunity to talk shit about me and representing the whole QBN and how it will not take me seriously because I posted the article.. when in fact the only ones who have problems with this are you in a few Apple fans on QBN.. this is interesting news anyway you look at it.
And in that side not.. It is about you and how batshit crazy you are.

I know a lot of non-geek people who are choosing to buy Android phones .. it's definitely hit the mainstream, and people are choosing to stand up against Apple.

I own Canon cameras and quite a lot of various Canon accessories for them. As surprising as it may seem to you Boz, I do not wish death upon Nikon camera owners.
I just hope Canon will keep building cameras so my lenses don't get obsolete in a couple of years.But seriously, this prediction is great news for Apple users. Apple needs strong competition that will force them to release features they wouldn't implement otherwise.
More platforms—more work for us, more billable hours. What's not to like?

@lukus_W2 I know a few people who ended up getting Android phones and complain about the lack of killer apps for the thing, and they all will get an iPhone as soon as their contract allows them to do it. They also complain about the shitty battery and the maneuvers they have to do every day in order to increase the battery life of the things.
Although those are the old shitty Android OS version, the new one is nicer, but the lack of good apps is still there.

The marketshare of Android has several important aspects..
The fact that Android will be present on so many platforms ensures that those build platforms and apps to take advantage of mobile devices will now have a huge market.
The potential for profit will be huge and much bigger than on other platforms because of the reach alone.
It will ensure that Android is going to be on TVs, new tablets, phones and that consumers and audience in general will be most likely using it..
So this all takes us to the development and design for these platforms.
To let emexbcn know.. the reason why I post about Flash is mostly because of performance and hair-raising speeds that Molehill is bringing, especially the benefit for developing apps for various devices running Android (including tablets, TVs, phones as well as iOS)..
There are millions and millions of Flash developers and I'm betting a ton of people on QBN who benefit from knowing shit like that.
I don't post HTML5 shit because there's plenty of that already and they all look the same (scrolling sites and all that).
I'm trying to bring in some technical information that will actually benefit people and try to have relevant technical discussions..
The problem is that there's a bunch of douches here who seemingly can't have a normal discussion or suffer from "I know everything best" syndrom..

- 10.2 player (along with new 10.3) and AIR 2.6 the performance is fantastic though.. You will need Flash CS5.5 to do some new magic for iOS if you don't want to hack CS5 installation and AIR SDK forlders nad stuff.Boz

Well.. price point on smartphones for either android or apple-based is pretty similar. What it boils down to for me - and what sold me on the android-based smartphone - was the price point for the services. The goddamn data plans for AT&T + Verizon are outrageous. At least with Sprint i got a half-way decent rate for unlimited data.
