Great work, especially the identities. And the site's growing on me.
Still, a lot of scrolling on my laptop.

One thing I'm amazed by is the web typography. The line spacing, kerning, even the little dotted rollover underlines are all perfectly placed and spaced. For text that is flexible to your browser window it sure maintains it's integrity at a variety of sizes.
I don't mind working for the text and the navigation.. I think it's elegantly conceived. Most build print pieces require you to work a little, and i'm glad to see that same spirit in the website.

Reminds me a little bit of my website. That is to say, I like the work within but am already looking forward to the next version.
- Not that my work is anywhere near as good as Michael's.gramme
- yes it istank
- Well bless your sweet heart, as my client in North Carolina would say.gramme
- I admire your work gramme. It inspires me just as much as this, if not more.monospaced
- how long before you actually just build a new site instead of moaning on here about the current one?bumdrizzle
- That's the question burning in my mind, analeakage.gramme

The site loads very fast for me. 18mb/s broadband connection + On Safari.
I don't understand all the hate they are getting? Most designers have over average with knowledge and experience with UI and internet, so it should be intuitive enough how to navigate on the site, no? Or are you actually trying NOT to understand it?
It's not really so annoying with the text over the image when you can hide it, one click, arrow up.
The site would be even better if when you look at the last picture in one case and click →, you should come to the first picture of the next case and perhaps the info could expand to highlight the new case?
Lovely fullscreen picture that make their work justice.

Yeah not understanding the complaints. Seems like people have trouble accepting anything that falls outside the bounds of a standard site one iota in terms of usability, readability etc.
Only thing I wonder how it might have looked rendered with @font-face on capable browsers. He could have even used closely tracked Helvetica for old times sake:)

I like it.
Since I have said this, I think we can close this one up.

love the new site, absolutely gorgeous!! well done..

Keep it simple .. allow people to see the work without a load of text overlaid. Click - view -> click - view -> contact - book.
- you are correct, that is indeed one way to do things..

I think white text on yellow is a huge mistake if you want people to actually read what's written.

The work is simply outstanding.
I think there is a lot wrong with this site unfortunately.
Too long a list to go through. It would have been better just to have the index page as their main homepage.

lol at all the half arsed jacobs in this thread. it is form over fucntion, and rather lovely form it is too.
- lukus_W0
... maybe so, but this thread still reminds me of the emperor's new clothes.

I think he's a really good designer but I'd really like to see him move away from the 'let's type out all the info about the client/object/etc and make that the brand' thing that he does. He's been rocking that gimmick since tDR and it's kinda old.

I like his cats

Lot of people need to do the think before they type method.
Look at the print work? Pushing things, trying new things out, stretching convention, making new and interesting juxtapositions. Look at the site? Oh yeah it's doing the same thing. I am not sure an indexhibit would cut it really? Which seems to be what half of you are asking for.

I'm very interested in experimental interfaces, mixing things up to try something different and trying to achieve useful aims using unconventional techniques.
However - I think that any designed interface needs to solve problems, rather than present users with difficulties.
I'm not trying to be disparaging for the sake of it - but I don't think that this website makes it's primary purpose obvious, and don't think it's particular easy to view the work or learn about the company.
Maybe in some cases challenging the user is worthwhile - but I don't see the logic behind making a potential client jump through hoops, because an interface is cumbersome and difficult to navigate.
From my situation, all the positive comments _seem_ like they're driven by a desire to say the right thing, rather than a true appreciation. This is only because I can't understand what it has going for it; which I'm very happy to admit, might be because I'm being short-sighted.
If you disagree with me - please tell me why this works? I'm very happy to learn something new.
- After a short familirisation with the mechanics involved I looked through the whole site with ease, large images, good copy, use the keys to browse.gradiate
- No, I'd argue that the work trumps the site - _despite_ the UI, the work makes perseverance worthwhile.lukus_W
- But maybe there's an argument that users shouldn't have it too easy... not sure I agree - but it's prob worth a thought anyway.lukus_W
