Nice image el_pix!
You just cant go wrong with the EPL-1, had it been out when i bought my GF1 its hard to say which id choose. The IS is a beautiful thing. And people bang on about olympus jpeg colours...and they do so for a reason!
you get the 17mm f2.8 lens? its a good un! Gets over-shadowed by the panasonic 20mm f1.7 - which is indeed better, but the olympus 17mm 2.8 is v v sharp, lovely lens i tell thee!!!
the dream! - EPL1 + 20mm f1.7 - Low light king!!
im helping a mate choose a camera soon and ill have good old feel (behave) of the EPL1, if the ergonomics are better than my GF1, they're will be problems!! :D

Nightshade, the LX3 is a great compact camera, that or the S90 or G11 are gonna be the best compacts you can get.
A friend bought one recently so i got a play, and it is v v compact!
the 2,5 optical is the only drawback.
The s90 and g11 are also fractionally better in low light - but really not much.you considering it? got a great macro that LX3!
- I'm fine with the zoom, I already have a Canon 5D with plenty of lenses. The LX3 looks like a great camera for the pocket.Nightshade

wish there was a primo full frame (or close) sensor version of these 4/3 cameras. Something like the m9 but obviously more affordable. Hate that my 50mm becomes a 100mm.

Panasonic cameras are over priced tho..specially the G2.

intelliboy , know what you mean :(
get a 7-14mm lens for compensation? :Pok_not_ok, i dunno my GF1 was £650, the EP1 was £600 at the same time.
My GF1 came with a lens that cost about £40 more than the EP1 lens, so its not too steep. Plus the GF1 has an optional EVF, the EP1 does not.

GF1 rocks... with the pancake lens, its awesome. SO bright and quick for a compact this size. Much better build than the Olympus. HIGHLY recommended. Then again, the Canon G11 is pretty special too...

Yeh man the pancake is immense, I'll post a bokeh pic at f1.7 when I get back for people to see. I find the feel and build of the gf1 better than the oly's too.
The g11 is an immense compact, I nearly bought it but went for te GF1 for better imae quality. However the g11 is still one of the most ergonomic comfortable cameras i'v ever held.

Well - I bought a GF1 with a 20mm lense .. it's lovely. Very happy .. thx for all the tips Hombre_Lobo :)

Nooooo way lukus!! Awesome!! You're welcome dude! :)
You got a DSLR too?
Be sure to check out the firmware hack, it enables full manual control in video, without it it's a nightmare to get good footage without that choppy effect becuase it defaults to wide open aperture, which means high shutter speed. With the firmware hack though it produces some very nice video! Thanks to the great hardware of the gf1 you can even increase the bitrate of the video to 33mbps, which does look a bit better.
Also the other panasonic lenses are all good, really good for the money. The 14-45mm is better than the newer 14-42mm though.

Enjoy your cam dude! Post some pics here, even your test pics!!
Also don't forget about lightroom 3's awesome noise reduction. Panasonic jpegs have a conservative approach which often leaves jpegs noisy, but detailed. Get them raws in lightroom and watch it work wonders with iso 1600 and even 3200 (pushing it though).
Love my gf1, built like a tank! Also the perfect case for the gf1 +20mm is the 'apex 60 AW', like it was made for that combo!
Once you get a geek started eh!! Have fun!
