Does anyone consider it cheating if you use the squat cage / rack to do bench press and other exercises?
I routinely use those when I lift heavy because I don't work out with anyone or have a spotter. I don't want to drop the barbell on my face.

there should be a notch lower on the bench press machine you use in case you can't bring it back up.
It would seem the rack wouldn't allow you to do an actual press it would stop you before you even get into it really. Just ask for a spot or you could always use the smiths machine.

I'll I do is bench press. If it was up to me the whole gym would be benches lined up, one after another. How much can you bench?—THAT'S the only question that matters.

I would recommend strength training to gain size. Do whatever you want as far as supplemental lifts, but be sure to do powerlifts and/or compound movements as your first exercise. for example:
CHEST
flat back bench press: 3-5 sets of 5 reps
weighted dips: 3 sets of 8-10 repsBACK
weighted pull-ups: 4-6 sets of 5-8 reps
barbell rows: 3 sets of 5 repsLEGS
squats: 3 sets of 5 reps
deadlifts: 3 sets of 5 repsSHOULDERS
military press: 3-5 sets of 5 reps
shrugs: 3 sets of 5-8 repsBICEPS
straight bar barbell curls: 3 sets of 5-8 repsTRICEPS
skullcrushers: 3 sets of 8 repssometimes for chest, legs back or shoulders, I'll go in and work through a 5 sets of a main compound movement over a period of half an hour and then just leave after that. If you work with the right intensity and focus, that will be all you'll need to do to grow and strengthen the muscle group(s) on occasion. I wouldn't recommend doing that all the time, but every now and then it's good to switch up things.

Does it matter if one does 3 sets as opposed to 5 sets?

i go to the gym a couple times a week.
i do half hour of cardio, another half hour of staring at girls' butts, then fuck around on different machines i don't really understand until i can't anymore and pretty much hate life. then i buy an overpriced protein shake and chug it like i'm in a gatorade commercial.
works for me.

Point5 - have you found any decent home dumbells for a decent price? I've looked into the bowflex dumbell system simply for its shear convenience, but they are just too damn expensive.
Thoughts?
- I've never really seen dumbbells on the cheap. Also, I know some people that love the Bowflex, but I think even...Point5
- avid users grow bored with it after a short while. Personally, I prefer free weight movementsPoint5
- I hear you there, just need something for some filler stuff at home when I can't get to gymrodzilla
