Thank you Britons and Americans for saving Europe from a narrow-minded view of the world in WW2.

What did you expect? It's not America, their democracy is young. It will take time before they learn to easily make the youngsters vote for the "cool" candidate with metrics driven propaganda, channeling their youthful rebellion into conformist "choices".
Until they study Goebbels and Marketing, they have to resort to cheating and force.- So you're saying either elections is a trick or a trick?Corvo2
- I'm just amazed with how people who make their living in ads don't see how they're being an easily steered market targetraf
- And.. hi Corvo, good to be in your timezone. Have you read Eastern Standard Tribe? It's a free ebook under GPLraf
- That's because they're beautiful.Corvo2
- Hi - ho. I'll check that book.Corvo2
- http://en.wikipedia.…Corvo2
- I'll put my fangs into it.Corvo2
- They sure are. This Chilean merlot is far from it I'm sad to report. The book isn't revolutionary, but it is short.raf
- Haha.. I like this sentence's sudden time-precision "He meets a girl, Linda, after he hits her with his car at 3am"raf
- Do you twitter sir? I bet there's a legion waiting to followraf
- Well I suspect anyone who wants to run the joint. I'm a liberal constitutional anarchist.Corvo2
- This may need further explanation!Corvo2
- No twitter here.Corvo2
- I demand explanations! Liberal as in US liberal, or a libertarian liberal (free as in beer)?raf
- As for Twitter, you can't beat it, you have to set a bomb from inside it!raf
- I guess I'm just liberal - I can't really define it beyond the plain principle of the thing itself.Corvo2
- I'm afraid there's a difference-liberal as in give people freedom with responsibility or liberal as in do what you want..raf
- ..but the state knows what 's good for youraf
- also, to use a real world reference, twitter is like QBN sidenote but easier to follow and without this pointless clickeryraf
- ukit0
Everyone has their preconceptions raf and throwing the Nazi reference in there is a little over the top. You aren't American so I'm guessing you didn't just live through 8 years of Bush and Republicans running things.
- ukit0
It's interesting to see this thing unfold on Twitter. Lots of posts from people who are actually in Tehran on what's happening there, but also lots of stuff that is probably BS/ unsubstantiated rumors.

- you can't trust ANYTHING coming out of iran's news agencies...dconstrukt

I'm sorry if I sounded cynically bitter, but I do have doubts when a two party system is presented to me as what a "mature" system should look like. It's still good ol' "good cop bad cop" story to me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goo…- Better to think of it as the consolidation effect...Pepsi vs Coke and each one owning all the other soft drinksukit
- +1million. yet our system is infinitely better than iran. fuck them.sublocked
- Last time I had hope in the US system was when Ross Perrot started, even if he was an idiot. Two parties are a monoparty.raf
- ukit0
Sure but recent events (ie, political clusterfuck) in the UK seem to suggest a multi party system doesn't necessarily solve all your problems either
- Corvo20
Hey - let's leave the Iranians with they're own politics.
I'm not fond of Islam - I think it has subdued many interesting cultures, especially in Iran or Persia, but it's really up to them to decide.
No democratic country is made without civil war. Look back or look close.
- no... lets not. they want to destroy israel.... we need to keep tabs on them.dconstrukt
- move to Israel if you love it so much.DrBombay
- ukit0
- This is the real subject-matter.Corvo2
- Yeah, I have come across a few incredible Iranian women. One of my best friends is married to one.mg33
- i dated one several years ago. she was crazy. her family was crazier. but she was smoking hot.Gucci
- Olive skin with them light eyes, kills me everytime. Totally hot region for dames.peddy28isgreat

What do you mean by UK clusterfuck? It's all going very well there. Tories are doing good, Labour are going down.. UKIP are emerging and BNP fuckers are flashing a warning. The only bad thing is there's still 2 years until general elections.
Europe needs this - someone who brings them back to reason.
- ukit0
Isn't that sort of the same as the U.S., kicking out one of the major parties and replacing it with the other? How far back do you have to go to find the last PM who wasn't Tory or Labour?
I guess you gain something by having those UKIP and BNP MPs but if you look at US politics...people like that don't get shut out here...they just get absorbed into one of the two major parties for the most part.
- So functionally it's not all that different is what I'm sayingukit
- ..and disappear, like libertarians did? Those systems are made by and for the people who meet on the same golf courseraf
- The party is just a platform. Within the party you have people with all kinds of different views, although they might lean to the right or the leftukit
- will obviously lean right if they are Republican and left if Democrat...but you still have your Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich in thereukit
- Kucinich in there.ukit

I just don't believe in democracy that much. Majority of people are sheeples (that's an euphemism for idiots). If anything, I'd rather have a system small local democracies, kind of like Switzerland is. Anything bigger is easier to steer and the people who steer out of supervision.
My Goebbelsian references weren't meant to drop a big nazi sign - the guy was among the people who mastered political propaganda. Just like Edward Bernays did.If you don't know who Edward Bernays was you're in for a fantastic pre-socialist BBC journey I envy you:

The way people do politics will change in 10-15 years, after a whole generation subdues. It's changing already. I'm afraid all the categories of speech which we now deem for granted will be useless in a few years.
- I'm afraid not. The world hasn't changed much in 2K years. The good wine and olive oil are still made the same way.raf
- I agree with Thoreau when he says people do not change, but things do. Slowly, they do.Corvo2
- he actually says "nothing changes, we do", but he perfected the pencil.Corvo2
- I still believe in those people's reason than.. many others' http://news.bbc.co.u…raf
- Well well - we need an Europe map where we can put some pins now.Corvo2
- Or pints, for that matter! Geez.. it's past dawn outside, I swear this is the last http://www.fourcorne… for me..raf
- aye raf . 4 am here. I'm just not making any sense any more. Good thing? it's raining after 30ºC all day.Corvo2
- Damned - I thought I had a case :PCorvo2

lazerbass - wtf kind of dumbass comment is that? like we had anything to do with iran's elections?
corvo, how to tell if its rigged? dude lol, its iran.... they don't want change.
the young people do, the gvmnt doesnt

From what I heard in a CNN comment, Iran loosens up their censorship and restrictions, so that it makes it seem like it is a democratic election. After things recede, then the shutting down of freedom of speech begins.
The ayatollahs already signed, seal, and delivered the acceptance of Ahmadinejad so it's pretty much sealed.
