I particularly liked it, because it showed some of the fire that people who are undecided (which just boggles my fucking mind, and always has when people can't make decisions like this). He's been said of coming off too soft at times, and raising the voice and getting everyone's attention with a emphatic pause with an over hand right is what some people need.
Then again, that's why Biden is on the ticket, haha.

I seriously can't understand how anyone couldn't respond to what he's saying. It isn't even remotely left wing for christ's sake.
good luck rand
- It was more 19th century pragmatic progressive than post-New Deal Liberal.TheBlueOne
- good luck to you, tooDr_Rand

What was his stance on Diabetus?
- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :).
I bet he proposes that the kits get delivered free. Paperwork done too..mikotondria3

I get it. I realise that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don't fit the typical pedigree, and I haven't spent my career in the halls of Washington.
But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the nay-sayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's been about you.

there were many excellent speeches at the convention, particularly Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Biden. But I thought Obama was on another plane entirely...

I know i should be interested in stuff like this.

And Jerusalem will forever be the undivided capital of Israel and the Jewish people no matter what throughout history and for now and forever!!!
*applause now!*

His speech was OK. It was a good re-introduction to what he is about but did not give any clear concrete ways to dealing with the issues.
Can't wait for the debates.
- Jaline0
Kudos to him and everyone else who wrote parts of his speech.
The debates will be interesting.

- i cant wait for the debates. I think Obama is gonna slaughter McCainsintaxera

Ha! He said everything you guys wanted to hear, huh? You sound like a living room full of preteens who just saw their favorite boy band on TRL. lol Mussolini promised a third way too. Roosevelt's New Deal, in retrospect, may have prolonged the Depression and hurt minorities.
I'm not saying that Obama's the same as the aforementioned politicians, or that you guys are dumb. It's just that skepticism is a great asset in life, particularly when it comes to charismatic charlatans who are making the same unsubstantiated claims that were offered up to a willing audience not so long ago.

"It's pretty sad when the worst thing you can say about your opponent is that he's too damn popular. Yet that's where McCain and his Republican handlers are right now, questioning whether someone who actually can fill a football stadium full of enthusiastic activists is worthy of the presidency. Far better to limit your audiences to a few dozen loyalists who can tolerate watching your cottage-cheese pallor swimming in a sea of green.
The worst part of the tut-tutting about Obama's resonance with the voters is that Barack isn't even that good at the rock star thing. He's really just an earnest, hard-working, wonky guy from Chicago who happens to be a really good speaker, and who moved his big speech to a big venue because a big number of people want to watch. You want theater? You want a sense of larger than life drama? You want true messianic celebrity?
John McCain's pal George Bush showed us how it's done."
- He quoted this from somewhere else. It's just a counter argument.Jaline
- this is a cut and paste--do you think I'm gonna take the time to write stuff to convince people I don't agree with?Dr_Rand
- I can't imagine a bigger waste of timeDr_Rand
- It makes sense though, and I don't see much anger in it.Jaline

I thought it was great! He said exactly what needed to be said and he did it beautifully. He came swinging against McSame. Karl Rove must be in his dark dungeon trying to figure out how counter this speech.
It's going to be tough.

obama wants to establish a million+ youth brigade in the U.S. in the name of Homeland Security.
obama is a war-monger and a banker's puppet
HE SERVES PRIVATE BANKING INTERESTSwe need leaders who can overcome the greedy capitalist approach to power - who can take the country from the banks and give it back to the people.
Obama is a democrat. The reason democrats and republicans are practically the same party - is because they both work for the same bankers.
if you are still interested, look into candidates like Ron Paul who are interested in abolishing the federal reserve. and check out for yourselves the real truths behind the federal reserve and the IRS

- Youth brigade? LOLukit
- So, the new X-Files movie was big disappointment for you too, eh?TheBlueOne
- let's be realistic seeing as how we are in locked in a two-party systemmcLeod
- if you can' beat 'em then join 'em, eh losers?bliznutty
- I don't think Obama is a war monger, but there is some truth about the banksDCDesigns

I liked Bill's more.
- I used to love Bill Clinton, then I watched him closely and I think he's a shit, even though he says things I like.mikotondria3
- yeah - he's just a man.Witt
- he's morphed into a gape mouthed hillbillyDr_Rand
- well, mine is just a foreigner's opinion/instinct - and I was talking about the speech itself.Witt
- Bill knows how to speak too.Jaline
- For an endorsment speech, it was rather unique - and brilliant in structure, pace and emotion.Witt

Why are designers/artists so fucking liberal? I don't understand it. Someone indulge me.
- Simple, they look to create and not conserve.TheBlueOne
- You've got your responses telegraphed don't you BlueOne?d_rek
- dreckDr_Rand
- You're right, d_rek, it is a (true) cliche. A self-fulfilling stereotype. Sometimes I come across as far-right 'cause...dog_opus
- ...I'm very much in the middle politically.dog_opus
- I prefer "leftist" to liberal, though. The modern left is more totalitarian than liberal (individual rights, capitalism, etc.)dog_opus
- They tend to be more open-minded, in my experience.Jaline

i'm hesitating to post here, but i respect many of you. i am an independent...i'm really left on some issues, and a bit right-of-center on others. i try to see both sides and vote accordingly.
my issue is the attitude of the left. that some of of you think that you have to be a retard not to be on the left or for obama, or worse, malevolent for even thinking of associating with the right. i have to say that this is the PRIMARY reason i can't register myself as a democrat. it's that negativity, holier-than-thou attitude which i find insulting and embarrassing. again, there are definite problems with reps, but right now i'm talking about dems.
obama resonated with me most of the time, and although his social programmes sound great, they concern me. i have trouble with the government running any of this smoothly (see irs, post office, immigration), but that's beside the point. what bothers me is when he (like you) talks about "them", meaning non-democrats, it's always in a manner which is condescending.
i guess i'm just venting frustration with this. i can't turn on the tv and seeing some celebrity waxing on an on about how dumb and mean the right has to be for not embracing obama, and then i come here and see the same thing. i think i would've been on board with him ages ago if it weren't for that. i just don't want to be associated with it.
then i look at mccain and barf.
- "i can't turn on the tv without seeing..." is what i meant.sputnik2
- You shouldn't hesitate. America is about dissent, debate, and the freedom to openly engage in both.dog_opus
- +1Jaline
- I'm glad we don't have to register with anyone here.Jaline
- you blame him for his followers?Dr_Rand
- not just his followers, him as well....i've definitely heard it in his speeches.sputnik2
- The difference is, I feel this way about both parties, not just the democrats. That it's all condescending.Jaline
- surely lefties are an optomistic bunch?thestevo
- i agree with jaline. i've honestly seen optimism on both sides, i don't think it's a party thing.sputnik2
- true, but dont the repubs just paint all Dems as hippy, arugula eating, cut & run liberals? they do the same thingsintaxera
- Obama has talked many times about non-partisanship, and rarely calls himself a Dem. The Repubs are all about attacking Dems since they can't win on issuesjjoeth6
- And healthcare... you think it goes smoothly now? It couldn't be much worse.jjoeth6
- thestevo0
Surely because it requires an open-mindedness.

I felt like there were a lot of quotes that will go down in history.
