at the end of the day its still a fucking name - and you capitalise names.. we just didnt really name 'God' as 'Thor', 'Odin', 'Sheeva' or whatever.. the name IS God the name is Jesus.. religion or not. Names are capitalised..
respect comes from capitalising 'He' (ie. He said.. ) which means 'He' is superior to the rest of us that only use 'he'.
but unless your a grammar deviant - then use it with a capital - otherwise it doesnt look like you're rebelling it just looks like you're ignorant.
- deviant no? libertine, yes.
TheBlueOne - says the man who hasn't capitalized after any periods7point34

We must purposely remember God in each moment, lest we think we're independent and forget that he is our Creator and judge. The word remember conveys where your focus is.
For instance, we often forget about gravity, but without it we couldn't function here on Earth. We also rarely think about our car's windshield, but without it we would have bugs all over our face and our hair blown in all directions.

god is personal, i can capitalize and show respect however the fuck i want.
also, being personal as it is, shut the fuck up and stop telling people how YOU think it should be.
- and yes telling you to shut up and do what i say is in fact hypocritical, but i don't care i just want you to shut up.7point34

oh shut the fuck up you dumb troll.

Can we start a Mac vs. PC thread next and all make the same arguments?
- HAHAHAHalocustsloth
- clearly PC's are better, I could build a clone-mac for half the price that's faster than the fastest G5. :) hahadesignbot

It's not about Republican vs Democrat, Right vs Left, right vs wrong. It's all about faith and leading a good life.
- AGREED!! (holy shit, did i just type that?) Provided that "faith" doesn't automatically mean any certain religionlocustsloth
- It's not "all" about faith or the absence of it, thats your very narrow perspective speakingNONEIS

Where do I begin....
Christianity and Islam have very little in common besides certain shared histories going back to Abraham. The central tenet of Islam is legalism, i.e. doing good works to get into heaven. It's all over the Q'uran. The central tenet of Christianity is grace, i.e. being granted undeserved forgiveness of our sins via Christ's sacrifice, and thus entering heaven because of HIS merit, rather than our own.
These central concepts are diametrically opposed. One finds similar core, contradicting differences between all religions. If we all worship the same God, then God is a tongue-tied, confused, confusing, megalomaniac, split-personality, self-contradicting asshole. I would want nothing to do with such a God.
For the record I personally do not believe this is "God's country" or any other Manifest Destiny type of mantra. Unfortunately, I can't speak for all of my Republican friends.
The reason people hate the idea of absolute truth (ex.: "I am the way the truth and the life; no man can come to the Father except through me") is because it is black and white, in or out, damned or not damned. It's not popular, but since when is popularity a requirement for truth?
- but who says this is correct?mrdobolina
- disregard, don't let this troll fucking do this.mrdobolina
- eh? me? troll? LOL.gramme
- nah I meant hedge or should I say Dinky.mrdobolina

"God is a tongue-tied, confused, confusing, megalomaniac, split-personality, self-contradicting asshole. I would want nothing to do with such a God."
Exactly. That's why I abandoned christianity.

"God is a tongue-tied, confused, confusing, megalomaniac, split-personality, self-contradicting asshole. I would want nothing to do with such a God."
That pretty much sums it up, thanks for putting it so eloquently.

Yes, believing that separate faiths, teaching contradictory messages, can somehow lead to the same God....fly's in the face of logic.
- And is the idea of logic man's or god's?TheBlueOne
- logic has no place in religionflashbender
- That is an interesting point. I think believing the Bible to be inspired by God answers that question.designbot
- doesn't having to have faith exclude one from having to have a logical basis to some things?TheBlueOne
- I don't think so. Look at gravity, we can only study it's effects...you have faith that if you step off a cliff...you will fall.designbot
- and that is logical.designbot
- that's not faith. that's called a preponderance of evidence.TheBlueOne
- designbot, are you flagellum by any chance?mrdobolina
- i can say with certainty he is not flagellum dobs.lvl_13
- haha.... no sorry I'm not him.designbot

you could all be full of shit though.
- indeed :)PonyBoy
- i'm sure you're right... had a burrito for lunch though so it should pass soon enough7point34
- True. Nobody can be 100% all you can do is look at the evidence and make a decision based off it.designbot
- walking on water, water into wine etc. hmmmrdobolina
- yup. they are radical claims...but we are talking about God here.designbot
- so where is the evidence? I mean like dna and shit.mrdobolina
- Two of each species on a big boat. Yeah, that's probable. WTF LOGIC?!!!!!!!!!Antonelli

What happened to people before Jesus? Did they go to heaven/ hell/ etc? Did the rules change after Jesus' death?
What about people living in remote parts of the world who haven't heard of Christianity? Are they pretty much f*cked?
- yup.mrdobolina
- actually according to christianity i believe that's true7point34
- That's what missionaries are for.hedge
- Yes, those people are "fucked". A wonderful religion isn't? Treat everyone as equals, but only when it suits you.2cents

^^ yes. the best they can hope for is purgatory. The gates of heaven are locked to those who do not know the anointed one.
- Purgatory does not exist. It is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. I'm not sure why Catholics buy the idea.gramme
- BLASPHEMER! The pope is the mouthpiece of god. To insult to pope is to insult god!flashbender
- I'm not sure why there are 1000 different variations of christianity either.mrdobolina

Belief in absolute truth does not make one arrogant. Now if I believed that I was the author of absolute truth, then yes – that would be arrogant. But, such is not the case. I believe in something much larger than myself, because I know I cannot save myself. No one ever has saved themself (besides Christ) and non one ever will.
- define "saved" for me, pleaselocustsloth
- biggest. scam. ever.TheBlueOne
- Saved: forgiven of my sins, and having my entry into heaven bought by the blood of Christ.gramme
- Cool, so unless you believe in Christianity, "saved" is an irrelevant term. i'm good with thatlocustsloth

ukit - " What happened to people before Jesus? Did they go to heaven/ hell/ etc? Did the rules change after Jesus' death?"
to answer you question:
They looked and put their faith into the future coming of Christ (known through the prophecies) and today we look to the past and put our faith in that as it has been recorded.- bwaaaahahahahahahaha...flashbender

if you can not save yourself why even bother trying to lead a righteous life?
- To be a good person? I know that's hard for you to grasp.hedge
- that's a famous philosophical question isn't?7point34
