Interesting. Listening to McCain's victory speech - he was totally focusing on Obama, giving his own riff on what "hope really means".
They're smelling the blood in the water and know Hillary is bleeding. She's running for the party nomination while Obama and McCain are running for President already.

- hillary actually doesn't stand a chance against mccain.cosmo

Interesting, TheBlueOne.

AndyRoss - yeah, I get that, but lets use the example of a restaurant dishwasher so they go from $6/hr to $9/hr. In order to pay them, the owner has to come up with that money, so he raises his prices and then everyone's money is devalued.
Or a patient care giver - they raise their rates and suddenly the retiree who lives on a fixed income can no longer afford to pay for them and what do they do?
The last time they raised the minimum wage by that large of an amount here a fair number of small local businesses closed.
All I'm saying is that the democrats seem to have this "we'll throw money at it" mentality that does nothing more than act as a band aid instead of looking at a bigger picture of how to create better paying jobs.
To his credit Obama claims to have a plan to end tax cuts for US firms outsourcing jobs to keep better paying jobs in the US, which is a much much better plan than simply saying everyone gets a $3/hr raise which is what hillary is touting - that and creating "green collar jobs" which just makes me want to throw up
- but Obama is also saying he wants to raise the minimum wages every year.cosmo
- I'm not sold on him either.flashbender
- the cost of living goes up, but minimum wage stays the same, how is that correct?mrdobolina

I'm not really into any of these two, but man, some of you really hate Hillary uh. I really hope the fact that she is a woman has nothing to do with such hate...just saying....
- i just don't think she has anything to offer aside from a silly sax-playing husbandkerus
- OSFA, you make a good point.Ampersanderson
- lowering the level of the choice to a simple, she's a woman lets vote for her, is plain wrongDrno
- flashbender0
Her being a woman has nothing to do with my dislike for her. Her vote to support the Kyl-Lieberman amendment (essentially green lighting a war with Syria and/or Iran) has a lot to do with my dislike for her. She represents more of the same - she strikes me as someone who is willing to say anything to get elected - meaning what she says in her rhetoric does not add up to her record. For me she represents more of the same just as much as McCain does. And that is the last thing the US needs.
- same of the same? say anything to get elected? Don't they all???? They are called politicians no?OSFA
- true - which is why I treat all of them with varying degrees of disdainflashbender
- contradicting herself as usual

Guys. Come on. My grandma sent me an email that said that Obama was a muslim.
LOL.
Seriously though, its time for the old people to get the hell out of the way. I'm tired of them ruining the future of young Americans and passing along the def, dumb, and blind gene.

Hmmm, I'm still not sure. Still on the fence between these two. I've met people on both sides, but I must say that it is a shame that some of the people I've seen out there as supporters for Obama, only do it because it is the 'in' thing to do these days. He's the trendy candidate, and unfortunately enough there are lots of ignorant sheeps out there that might vote based on the fact that they need to feel part of something 'cool'
- "lots" is an understatementflashbender
- I don't think people are voting for him cause it's 'cool'. It's the educated people who are voting for him.cosmo
- and a very charismatic person, who can give great speeches.cosmo
- I understand, but will speeches really change things??OSFA
- it seems to be working.cosmo
- none of us are really going to know if they will be able to change anything at all.cosmo
- you can just hope.cosmo
- I do respect obama for making hope a "real" thing again. I think a lot of jaded people are joining his camp because of thatflashbender
- The sheep are the one's voting for McCain.jasontroj

If there is anyone who is really interested in change, it would be Obama in my opinion. He's a black man living in America. The old white farts have had their chance to live up to their promises. All they have done is bullshit their way around while ignorant and ungratefull white people get richer and richer. I'm tired of it. So are most of the young people in this country. We can smell the shit for miles now, we have better noses, and after the last 8 years, we have become alarmed and interested in the future of this country.
Old fart white people are scared to death of Obama because they know that he can really put an end to the tea party.

I think Hillary is having a nice good cry right now

Clap and point, clap and point - too funny...
Go Obama, i have my fingers crossed for all you guys!

It bothers me when people continually make a link from Obama to 9/11 (because he's a Muslim). I was listening to Keith and the Girl (podcast) and Keith was discussing how he went to a hairdresser and she made this same link. All he could do was sit there and pretend to nod...and then quickly leave.
- Jaline0
^ actually, he's not a Muslim. I think it was just his dad?

I am pretty pleased with how this all went down last night.

Mccain:
"We know where either of their candidates will lead this country, and we dare not let them," he told supporters in Alexandria, Va. "They will paint a picture of the world in which America's mistakes are a greater threat to our security than the malevolent intentions of an enemy that despises us and our ideals."
It is so silly that all the republicans have is the fear.
- mrdobolina0
From Daily Kos:
Barack Obama didn't just beat Hillary in Virginia. He didn't just get more votes than John McCain. In "red" Virginia, Obama got 142,000 more votes than all the Republicans put together. And that was with Hillary Clinton taking 100,000 more votes than John McCain.
More votes than all of the republicans put together, in fucking virginia. this is great.
- Grain of salt Dobs, and I read DK, but they're a bit of Obama ass kissers and a tad shrill...TheBlueOne

"They will paint a picture of the world in which America's mistakes are a greater threat to our security than the malevolent intentions of an enemy that despises us and our ideals." - McCain
Please, who are these people who hate us for our ideals? Seriously. Sure, there are people out there who don't like America and seek to do it harm, but the reasons are more like we've taken livelihoods away from them, mucked about in their country when for our own gain, etc. America should at least own up to it and face the enemy as it is and not wrap the enemy in some sort of Cloak Of Evil. Last I checked Sun Tzu treaty on war was basically summed up with "Know your enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are sure to be defeated in every battle." Sun Tzu is taught at the US Naval war college, and at West Point. It's military 101 to understand who your enemy is and what motivates him. To not know these things is to be defeated every fucking time. Yet the Republicans can't get the fucking definition straight and call anyone who tries to point this out a liberal traitor islamfascist loving commie or something. Yet somehow they think they have the big britches when it comes to the War stuff. They can't even get point 1 correct. Fucking losers.

OSFA,
If anyone is voting for Obama because it's the "in" thing, there are just as many women supporting Hillary simply because she's a woman.
I heard a comment on NPR last week (and I've heard it plenty more) where a woman will say "I'm supporting Hillary, I think it's time for a woman president."
Give me a break! That is NOT a reason to vote for her. Makes me think they'd vote for a witch if she were the only female running.
- Don't knock witches, please. I know many. I'm serious, actually.harlequino
- Jaline0
Yeah, but most of the people in the U.S.A. are voting based on a reflection of themselves. Divided primarily by women, hispanics, black people, and white people. It may not be a reason, but some people never thought they'd see the day when there would be *some* diversity among candidates.
- White people are voting for Obama over Hillary, so are women, and hispanics are coming over too. Good night Hillary.jasontroj
- -1 for saying "in the U.S.A."
;)madirish - You know what I mean. Pppl in general vote this way. Jason, many of the ppl who voted for Hilary are women..Jaline
