AndyRoss - yeah, I get that, but lets use the example of a restaurant dishwasher so they go from $6/hr to $9/hr. In order to pay them, the owner has to come up with that money, so he raises his prices and then everyone's money is devalued.

Or a patient care giver - they raise their rates and suddenly the retiree who lives on a fixed income can no longer afford to pay for them and what do they do?

The last time they raised the minimum wage by that large of an amount here a fair number of small local businesses closed.

All I'm saying is that the democrats seem to have this "we'll throw money at it" mentality that does nothing more than act as a band aid instead of looking at a bigger picture of how to create better paying jobs.

To his credit Obama claims to have a plan to end tax cuts for US firms outsourcing jobs to keep better paying jobs in the US, which is a much much better plan than simply saying everyone gets a $3/hr raise which is what hillary is touting - that and creating "green collar jobs" which just makes me want to throw up

    • but Obama is also saying he wants to raise the minimum wages every year.cosmo
    • I'm not sold on him either.flashbender
