FYI, for those of you who have not read that idiotic "Obama is a terrorist" e-mail, I've posted it below. My own mother sent it to me with the message "I didn't know some of these things. What do you think?" (Nothing below is anything she wrote though, it was all a forwarded e-mail from someone else) And you have to love the reference to Snopes... none of that is true and Clinton campaign employees were responsible for sending that e-mail out. LOL
Who is Barack Obama?
Something that should be considered when you make your choice.
If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all
your contacts...it is very scary to think of what could lie ahead for us
here in our own United States...better heed this and pray about it and share it.We checked this out on " snopes.com". It is factual. Check for yourself.
Who is Barack Obama?
Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born
in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM
from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white Athiest from Wichita, Kansas.Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.
When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.
Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also
attended Catholic school."Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that he is not a radical.
Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this
influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.
Wahabism is the RADICAL ISLAMIC teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.
Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor
will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential
candidacy. The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!
Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!!

It is closet racism, totally. Most old white people are racist (over 70). They grew up like this. I'm sick of these people running the show, no wonder everything is so messed up. They selfishly vote for their own psychotic preferences when they are going to be dead in a few years anyway. The young generations are left dealing with the embarrasing history of these people.
- emukid0
here's my question: why do more young people note vote but instead are okay with letting old farts with one foot in the grave decide their fate? or are there just too many old people around?
- *note = notemukid
- answer: usually it's just old white men running.GreedoLives

Obama better have some extra protection if he becomes President...
- dbdesign0
Well, would you really care if he was a muslim? I wouldn't, but I don't operate on the whole fear thing. American religious people are weird, I mean, they act like Jesus was born in fucking Kansas or some shit.

are there gonna be any yo'momma obama jokes or what?

I'm glad to say, though, that my Mom and stepdad don't buy into nonsense like that. They're completely supporting Obama actually.

Emukid,
Unfortunately a lot of these kids today were raised by these idiots. However, I get the feeling that more young people are interested in this election because of the complete failure of the last 8 years. I think its a wake up call.

@emukid
It's demographics somewhat. The Baby Boomers sheer numbers made them a force to be reckoned. Then there's my generation - the "Xers" (I'll stick with the original Strauss & Howe definition and say you had to be born between 1964-1975 to be an Xer, no matter how much the news media gets it wrong), the Xers were numerical far smaller than the boomers, hence our choking on the detritus of their culture, our inate cynicism, and unfortunate political apathy. However Generation Y - sons & daughters of the Boomers are a pretty large number, bigger than their parents and they are just now hitting 18 and their abouts in numerical force. There are not apathetic because a) they want to fuck up their parents and b) they have the numerical superiority to do it.
- the Baby Boomers have let us down for sure....robotron3k

I don't know, it's hard to say. We learn a lot about politics in classes, but it's boring to many. That's a horrible reason to not do something about politics, which is obviously integral to society, but it's true. Even "Rock the Vote" or whatever didn't really work.
- *chuckles at "rock the vote"...TheBlueOne
- People are lazy I guess. A lot of important things in life arent fun.seed

I think our dilluted mindset in America is a cause of this too. We are just spoiled little shits that don't give a fuck and we live under a blanket of comfort.
If there were bombs going off in our backyard, more people would give a shit.
- Exactly. The chickens are on their way back to the roost I fear though..TheBlueOne
- no, we are just afraid of the terrorists, they're coming to take our TiVO awayrobotron3k

My parents are conservative in some ways (ex. my mom has very traditional values), but they always vote Liberal (which I still don't really get...maybe it's their support for immigrants?) and try to convince me to do the same...
I'm Liberal but it really depends on the person.
- rainman0
unfortunately my parents are hardcore republicans and will vote for McCain no matter what... even if they don't believe he's the right man for the job. It's slightly irritating and causes huge fights when politics are brought up.
- mrdobolina0
I dont think those terms of conservative and liberal are extremely outdated.
Conservative used to be the people that would never want to go to war because of the expense of it, that all changed.
- mg330
I think older people just have too much fear in them in the first place. It's like a lingering effect of the Cold War or something, fear of communism and nukes and whatnot. McCain will serve it to them on a silver platter.
He's like a more docile version of Porky the Pig.
- dbdesign0
Plus, I like Obama's design image. He did a good job by caring about it. The republicans strike me as the kind of people who would ask me to make the logo bigger, and then not pay me. LOL.
- mg330
And, btw, I think a great Friday PSBattle would be to make anti-campaign posters - quality ones you could actually paste up somewhere. That would rule.
- i vote in favor of this motionemukid
- I meant "anti-candidate" posters.mg33
- good idea. although, I'm guessing at least 70% will be directed at Hillary ;)Jaline
- agreed. the psbattles around here are pretty gnarly.dbdesign
- I'll have to do it Saturday, but this should be a good one. Be convincing, yet outrageous.mg33
