He's the head of 2D design at Cranbrook. He doesn't need corroboration - he's important!
(Unlike us peons who actually do things.)

Why would he need to corroborate this opinion? History stands uncontested in this case. He speaks of designers that practiced the craft for radicality and social change, and those who practiced sublime corporate messaging.

One of my professors back in college was part of the Cranbrook crowd. He was eternally bitter because he was convinced David Carson had ripped off his style.

a self-aggrandizing corporate shill, like most of us

mmmmehhhh... so much heated debating over this little thing? it's his opinion, so what? form your own and be done with it. I don't necessarily agree or disagree...

I saw Wim Crouwe doing a rail on a hooker once. The thing is, it wasn't as tidy as i expected from him.
- wunderbra0
however, i don't really know who Wim Crouwe is...

Rand was a corporate scmuck, a huckster. There is nothing noble in his work, nothing beautiful. He is a fraud.
It's this attitude we've inherited from him...we've become used-car-salesmen of taste. Wrapped up in our own bullshit and rhetoric.
Guess what? Design is the factory job for the new millenium. You're blue collar workers in a digital age. Don't kid yourself into thinking you're making art.

(Nov 13 07, 11:08)all you said may be true, but who in this day thinks they're making 'art' while being called a designer?
- NeinPattern0
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to create identities for faceless and profiterring corporations, and tell myself I'm doing the world a favor!"
yeah fuckin right. Shove off, design is for hucksters and failed artists.

(Nov 13 07, 11:27)It's not about competition you dumbfuck, it's about ideals.
if your ideal in life is to be a corporate huckster, by all means, bend over and start (or keep!) taking it in the ass.
Some of us aren't content with being factory-drones...
