windows usability?

There's a difference between using something for its look, and using something for its look + usability + functionality, etc.
You can tell when someone owns something just for its look.
(this goes for any company, btw)

wouldn't it be smarter to bitch about the stranglehold that adobe has on the entire industry?

many of the publications I prepare ads for don't even accept windows files

not the design of the machines, the design of the OS

(Jul 8 07, 07:27)I have no problems with using Windows. Maybe when I buy a mac I will change my mind, but if I have no problems with the OS, then I'm not going to complain about it after I switch to another machine. I'm guessing I will enjoy both.

a thousand bucks or so stretched out over years of usage: a trivial investment

maybe because you can buy a ford escort or a jaguar xj12, they do the same exact thing, too?
ZOMG HOW CAN YOU BUY A JAGUAR WHEN A FORD ESCORT DOES THE SAME THING I JUST DONT GET IT WHATEVER IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?

Seriously, the newer Windows stuff DOES NOT CRASH as much as Mac users claim it does. And viruses hardly get in if you know the proper method for protecting your computer.
Obviously Macs are made for the more common user, and that's why it's easier to not get a virus. Clearly Macs are better in this sense because it means everyone can use a computer without worrying about viruses.
But it does remind me of laziness when some Mac users constantly complain about PC's getting viruses. Maybe upgrade your stuff and be smart about how you use programs and the internet? It's not as bad as people make it seem.
That being said, I do agree that Macs have a better design and look nicer, although this can be subjective. There are some pretty PCs out there as well.
In conclusion, I think this article about "why buy a mac" is probably true, but obviously many other companies do the same thing. You just have to be an intelligent consumer.
The ads by Apple piss me off and really dumb everything down, expecting every computer user to be an idiot.
Both systems have faults, and there are great things about both systems. It's all a matter of personal preference.

I can do everything I need in windows
I just don't see how people can pay twice to do the exactly same shit
- Rand0
I don't love apple at all--
I just don't see how anyone can stand to use windows
- glen0
This conversation is like organized religion... no matter how you feel or what you say, Apple lovers will love Apple products and Window/PC lovers we like Window/PCs. It's a never ending battle... and a pretty pointless one at that.
Please... whatever you do... keep the car bombs out of it.
Please.

how can you guys stand to use windows?

Its all about selling products. I know that and I think we all do. Sure apple has a whole 'think different' marketing approach or whatever they're using to sell their wares now. Most companies have some kind marketing approach to buy into a lifestyle or a way of working.
Apple has its fanboys for sure and sleeping out for a week for a new phone is just crazy, I like apple products but Im not gonna do that. However what about sony, nintendo blah blah blah all of these have their fanboys their cultists but most people who use their products wouldnt be considered to be brainwashed, however because I use an apple I am? Thats just nonsense. I used to use a PC, working on flash and that crashed more than my apple doing the same shit.
Its a preference. You like PC's fine and dandy, Im not gonna start bemaoning their inadequacies to you or talk about the cult of bill or whoever that shitehawk braying like a mentalist donkey was.
Mac Vs PC the debate will go on for as long as they both co-exist. Just don't forget that Microsoft are out to make a fast buck too. They are in business to generate profit not to make everyones life easier. If they were they'd get rid of that piece of shit called word.
Word.

Slappy, windows boxes are incredibly diverse.

Whoops, released I was arguing on the internet. I'm just cranky from painting my house all weekend, I actually don't care.
Time to go to bed. Boz is right. Goodnight.
- slappy0
I have refused to buy Apple products so far because I don't like conformity...

(Jul 8 07, 05:01)So you bough a windows machine? Nice one!
- oldelpaso0
meh Macs are pretty shite..
I don understand why design companies might like the looks...
when you have clients walk through the doors of your office and they see the sleek decor, the mac comliments it and looks "designery"...
but caus ei work from home. i couldnt care less..
+ the OS is fucking PATRONISING
+ apples advertising is overly aggressive and incorrect
(on the other hand i do own an iPod because it was clearly cheaper and better than the other 30gb mp3 plyrs at the time)

Yeah yeah yeah, i remember that good ol thing that is called a virus,
is it so hard to set up a firewall and an antivirii. are you guys that lazy to not even want to get more control over what you do.
mac don't crash. i don't know how many time i had to reinstall cs2 these past months and i won't even talk about the frequent flash crashes, but no it just out of the box, just plug it and it works. do apple customer feel that disconnected from what is really going on in the computer world??
right not i'm on an average pc, not fast, not too shiny (fariska gave it to me hehe thanx again) but good lord he is stable. never had a single problem-
but some of you def take that whole computer thing too seriously. but don't realize that most of the apps out there are mostly develloped on pcs..
GIVE ME BACK MY COMMODORE
it really makes me laugh everytime my boss tries to convince me that apple are so much better when obviously he never touched a pc since DOS eheh
sad and he's the one with the shirt "I visited the mothership" how dorky is it
