(Jan 11 07, 12:14)sound like he was talking shit in addition to jaywalking, Asking for the officers ID.

i'm sure the southern officer loved his british accented quipe after he asked for the gentleman's identification.
i've seen friends get maced for much the same. don't break the law in front of a cop. cops are dicks. deal with it.

(Jan 11 07, 12:14)they are standing up for what they believe no matter what the fuck you say :)
- mrdobolina0
who are, the cops?
- version30
no the people, like me, the one defending the "beating" of a jaywalker
dobs you know i'm just pokin' right ;)

give people some time or leeway to understand the law first.
It's your own fault if you don't understand the law and follow it, but cops don't react well all the time, especially in this case. Jaywalking is usually not a huge issue.
It also depends on the country you're in, of course.

you just clown me and I know that. jazx is the biggest style of ass kisser on in the country, ratting out his boys to get out of jail and shit.
- Jaline0
Basically, you're a dumbass if you jaywalk without knowing you're surroundings. And cops are in the wrong if they beat, abuse/yell at someone over jaywalking.

Reminds me of the time some girl decided to jaywalk in front of a bus and nearly got hit by a car (it did touch her), whereas I didn't feel comfortable enough to just walk around a bus (you couldn't see the next lane because of the size of the bus).

i gotta say...shit like this makes me crack a grin and think, well....so much for civilization...so much for a sense of proportion...
honestly. the attitude of 'hey..he broke the law..he got what was coming to him'...are we realllly that far gone?...
where is the sense of proportion?
beating down a professor?
for Jaywalking?but...ya know..remember that link a while back showing a 6 year old getting arrested and cuffed...
i can't help but remember this was the same place i saw posts like 'she had it coming to her'..a six year old.
I'd say some folks here should be ashamed of that, but...well...to each their own, i suppose.
we all create the society we want to live in, to a greater and lesser extent.
the one I want to live in just doesn't happen to include arresting 6 year olds and beating down oxford professors for crossing the street.:)

We shouldn't have to be reminded like this how legalistic we are. We have somethng like 1 lawyer for every 500 citizens. It's a red-blooded country.

dobs, i wouldn't call it clowning, i don't want to put you down at all, i just want to poke in you in the ribs, a little rubbing is all :)

Authorities are never after "control", because control cannot exist for too long and is far too expensive to maintain. Rather, they go for the "illusion" of control, and succeed rather well, or well enough to maintain a steady paycheck on your tax dollar and cool, shiny new toys for maintining the illusional control. Or they subcontract out corporate entities to build hi-tech pokeys to stick people in.
How's that for some rapier like thinking...

1. even in another country i had never visited, i'm sure there would be a clearly marked area at a busy intersection for me to cross, especially a country as developed as america
2. something tells me he was not picked out of a crowd of jaywalkers
