I've got a house in the south of france and can speak a very little bit of french.
Whenever I go over there I always take a phrase book/ dictionary and if I can't say it I at least try to learn it.
I know of people who have been in England for years and can't speak a facking word of English. That's just plain lazy arsed and ignorant.

(Dec 12 06, 15:41)there are also a fucking shit load of ex-pat brits living in spain who can't speak a word of english. What's your point?
This country is built on the backs of thousands and thousands immigrants who have come over here, worked their arses off to make a better life for themselves and can speak far better english than you or I can. You all right about these people coming over here, taking your benefits, not speaking a word of english and making you feel like immigrants in your own country, but without immigration the UK would have collapsed years ago with an aging workforce, no nhs, and no pot to piss in. I find the sweaping generalisation here appalling, ignorant and racist. And to be honest I expected better from some of you.

If I were to ever take a trip to Germany or France, I'd better learn how to speak the language before I go, at the very least enough to get by, or else it's gonna be a real bad trip not being able to ask where the bathroom is and having to shit on the floor.

Why whould the UK collapse without the immigrants?
I have no issue with them coming here and making a better life for themselves. What I have an issue with is them not adjusting to our way of living. If I moved to their homeland I'd respect their rules and beliefs. I wouldn't demand they live by mine.
What gives them the right to say how bad and evil we are, and at the same time will accept all our benefits and free healthcare? On the news an English guy got arrested for disagreeing with them burning the union jack in the streets, wheres the justice in that?

maybe they should try the british method of translation when away on hiolidays.

our government, already under resignation, may have to resign while under resignation. yes, you read it. reignation during a resignation process, all because of this Nazi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rit…
"During the December 12 session a motion was started by the PvdA that asked Verdonk again not to take any action on extraditions until the new cabinet was formed. This motion was again supported by all the left wing and centre-left parties. The coalition of those parties passed the motion 76-72 in the ensuing vote. Verdonk, however, claimed this motion amounted to a de facto pardon and affirmed her stance that any pardon was unenforcable. She also declared that the extraditions would continue after the debate was over, so before the cabinet could make an official statement the next day. Verdonk also refused to postpone those extraditions for another 24 hours until a new debate could take place the next day. As a reaction the whole parliament asked for an official statement from the cabinet that same evening[13]. Following an additional debate, during Prime Minister Balkenende again declared that Verdonk had the full support of the cabinet, a motion of distrust (similar to a motion of no confidence, but not as severe in Dutch politics) was accepted by the same coalition of left-wing parties. Before the vote took place Mark Rutte declared that should Verdonk resign, all VVD ministers would join her. [14] [15]."
This may lead to a situation in which the Queen (for the first time), may get solitary power, which would be rather interesting.
Immigration is an issue here that divides the government and the population.
But yes, i see the point, we are a small country so it does not matter eh?
Just beware that shit that goes down here, will geneally go down in Europe later as well.

Yesterday afternoon I had a Muslim lady spit at my feet. All I was doing was walking home from the Supermarket. Once I asked her why she did it, she went and did it again. I love that, an immigrant making me feel like shit in my own country.

England has gone to the dogs under Labour anyway.
I think he's probably right to say it, I wouldn't expect to move to a foreign country and not fit in with their laws and customs so I don't see why Johnny Foreigner should move here and wear ninja costumes to work and claim loads of benefits without even bothering to learn a little English.

janne, I'm aware the Netherlands has stricter policies about this (or at least I read that online).
The good thing about the Labour party is that they have instilled programs for women in politics.
Immigrants should be allowed to speak their own language and do whatever they want in that respect as long as they can speak English when talking to other people about important things (like at the airport or when asking questions), and they should definitely follow the laws of the place they move to. It only makes sense.
The whole politically correct thing about Christmas is definitely annoying, but what's wrong with respecting a few other cultures now and then? Of course, it gets too far when people want to take down Christmas trees because they're "too Christian", especially since these festivities mean something other than the birth of Christ to most people now (let's be honest). These movements about keeping holiday cards completely "christian" with "merry christmas" or, the other extreme, keeping them "happy holidays" are both ridiculous and are getting more annoying.

Why whould the UK collapse without the immigrants?
Because we have an aging population and a serious workforce shortage.
You do also realise that the majority of the NHS is staffed by immigrants don't you? If everyone fucked off 'where they belong' the NHS would cease working.
My main problem here is your "them" attitude. Who is this "them" you talk of? Who are these people you talk about questioning your beliefs and traditions and not learning your language? Who is saying you are evil?
Your sweaping statements are based on stereotypes, bollocks and very little fact. With each comment you ignore the millions of people who live here and make me proud to be called British. You have no proof of this mythical 'them', only a fear of the unkown and an incredible amount of ignorance.
You are really sounding like a cross between the Daily Mail and a BNP leaflet.
Pah.
