I'm getting mixed reviews about this laptop. Anyone have any personal experience with it? Or any info about the reliability of Toshiba would also help. I'm looking to buy a laptop within the next week.

it's awesome. i've had it for a little over a year and love it. size weight price performance...can't go wrong.

how many GB's do you have?
just curious...

battery life is pretty shit though...like almost all laptops. a few hours. i would recommend a second battery.

100gig hard drive. 1.8 pentium m with 1gig of ram.

the older ones sucked. i saw one fall to pieces system/hardware wise

Hmm...I may just get this one:
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog…which apparently has 3.5 hours on its battery. Around 2-3 hours is good enough for me. I'm planning to bring it to some classes, but I just want lots of hard drive space first, plus the DVD burner.
I think my laptop died because I spilled some juice on it, but that incident happened a few months back and my laptop just died a few weeks ago. Oh well, I just want something more reliable.

everything i read (and i did a lot of research 'cause it was a lot of money) said that toshibas were overall very solid. also sony was high on the list but was a bit more expensive simply for the name alone.

for jalines eating around the comp habit

heh, I'll just be more careful next time, especially since I like Toshiba as a brand.

i've had two and they've been computers alright. the only problem i've had is the first one i got in 2001, the power button wouldn't work anymore so i gave it away.

Bought one for my dad from B&H and had them deliver it to canada.
He just wants to watch his porn while his in the can ( i kid).I guess it's ok for surfing and DVD viewing but for PS and other design programs it'll crawl like a snail.

it depends on which toshiba satellite you get. i mainly like toshiba because they have good screens for laptops and they don't load it with lots of trial software that you'll have take the time out to clean out. only a few. i have a celeron in my current toshiba laptop and i run PS CS on it and that works fine with enough memory.

(Jul 19 06, 09:48)good to know, because if my dad doesn't lend me a few hundred I may have to get a celeron instead of a centrino, not that that's a big deal for me.

bought 1 4 years go.
best quality/price available.
will wait for the newest one with Intel's recently released Core 2 Duo processor:

i've been seening laptops with really fast core duo processors that cost less than my toshiba did when i bought it.
like this dell:

core 2 duo is a lot faster than core (1) duo but both are fast enough for things like photoshop. if you need something now, i would get a core duo since they're going down in price because core 2 duo just came out.
- unfittoprint0
exactly.
still
check this review on Intel's Core 2 Duo [desktops]:

yeah but something tells me, for jaline, price is a concern.
and after conroe, amd is gonna come out with their 4x4 processors. so you end up waiting forever for the next best thing.
- unfittoprint0
yeah.
if I see the price dropping sharply in the next 2 months, I'll probably get this Core Duo Satellite:
