I meant for both the screen and the keyboard.

i have those keyboard covers, they make you less accurate. i could never type without looking at the keyboard and hitting the keys 67% harder.

gotcha. probably plastic wrap then, because it's very flexible and thin, and really cheap :)

did the acer get beat and scratched up? how active are you with the laptop?

I think it was a combination of some drink I spilled on it a few months back, plus me keeping it on my lap all the time and therefore it got overheated quickly. It only lasted about 1.5 years, but I basically got what I paid for at the time.

it you wrap it in plastic wrap, i would think that it would get more overheated.
i've seen little platforms people put on their laps so it cools better.
as for spilling drinks on it, just be more careful and be a jerk when someone with a drink walks near you and yell at them to get away. i take an extra step and yell at anyone who walks kinda near me.

I thought about the overheating too, and I think if I just place it over the keys and not the sides and everything, it should be fine. So that air can actually get around. I don't know, but I'll look at my system again and compare it to my previous one and think about what I want to do. I know the protective cover from the site I linked before covers the entire keyboard, and it's specially made for each model.

here's the lap cooler i was talking about

the cover didn't seem too expensive, so i guess you could try it. maybe it won't make a difference with you and maybe i have weak little fingers compared to you

I remember some one sent me a link for a cheap dell, maybe good for you for school

fusion, I was also thinking about that one but decided against it since I don't know much about IBM computers.

I don't think I need a lap cooler, actually. My Acer one was really hot but I thought it was normal, so my fault was leaving it in that condition for a long time. So now i'm immune to the laptop heat ;)

oh, i thought it cooled the laptop not the lap. i think if you just flipped it, it would cool the laptop anyway.
am i read it wrong or is that ibm a pentium two 400Mhz? or is it supposed to be 2400MHz? if it's a pentium 2, you won' be able to do a lot with it.

the default memory for that IBM is 128 MB, vw, so you basically get what you pay for. That laptop isn't too bad for my mom and my sister, who just want something for word processing. But I think a desktop would be better.
