Co-opting social issues/tension for the sake of selling something is not a good idea, even if it is in a superficial way.
- Crouwel0
it's depicting racial differences, but nowhere stating that the black race is inferior, not in this context at least!

(Jul 6 06, 07:37)Oh right. The taller, dominant white female clutching the small black womans head has nothing contextual about it at all. Silly me. Wow. I guess I'm an knee jerk ober-edumacated liber-aaal.

yeah, that was kinda bad... but i think they tried to do something like a new challenger has come to destroy all psp-blackies, since psp has all this multiplayer thing u know...
it wouldn't have a problem if it were a white-armored against a black-armored soldier or something..
- TheBlueOne0
They could licensed the Mad magazine Spy vs. Spy guys for that...

(Jul 6 06, 07:37)There goes Benetton/Fabrica maybe. I don't see Coca-Cola co-opting racial tension.

(Jul 6 06, 07:39)don't reason like you live in 1933, son.
nowadays people (not everyone, but fuck that, advertising will be bland if it must keep everyone happy) can make a difference between an ad gimmick or a political statement. it will be discussed.
that's what i meant with context.

You better not be calling me son...

I can totally understand why this is probably going to get complaints.
I personally like the ad, but more so after viewing all 3.
- TheBlueOne0
Again, I said I dig the visuals in the ads, but I question th eintent. It seems to purposely create controversey for no reason. I think the ad is not slate dto run in the US..in the US or say Brazil or AFrica this ad would stir up so much shit. But you know, apparently we're not as wlel developed on the racial front as you Europeans, who have all that stuff worked out just fine.

(Jul 6 06, 07:52)please, don't romanticize that too much. we have some serious racial problems here.
but we are not as important as the US, so you don't read much about it over "there"
