If you are offended by this ad, you are thin skinned and I really don't know how you made it this far in life.
Also, I don't know if this has been said before but ...
Isn't it blatantly obvious that the White Person is symbolising the new White PSP and that the Black Person is symbolising the Black PSP.
The varying images show them both vying for control.
Ala ...
Vying for people's personal preference.
It's effective.
It got all you belly achers to talk about all day.
If you're offended fuck off.

Hi flavorful...if you are nto offended by the ad you're a callous, racist bastard.
I just turned off the news where some country bumpkin sheriff was saying that if you came to his town wearing dreadlocks or "chee wee" hairstyles, well, you'd get a visit from his department.
Not sure what world you live in where there is no racism and everyone gets along like muppets on Sesame Street...
An dad like that sure don't help "race relations"
How's them apples.
- Crouwel0
well but if it was a polish worker with a stash and all fighting a red haired irish guy you would all be angry and pissed about it, flavor!
;)

You're so simple Flavorful. Try reading the discussion before condeming anyone who speaks out against the ad.

I like the ad, I dont think its RACIST, but its definetely RACIAL... it could be taken the wrong way easily. Very radical, but not smart or memorable...or any good really. I guess what Im saying is, it's good for a quick shocka, but thats it.

(Jul 6 06, 13:17)how many ads are memorable anyway? esp. billboard ads??
- Mimio0
It's a such a weak PR move for Sony to deny that racial tension is being used here. What kind of company hides from the obvious implications of their communications? At least Benneton makes no apologies about their communication philosophy.

I'M BOUT TO GO NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
son
(Jul 6 06, 09:53)lolz,
did anyone tell you this goofy ad is a three part thing? ...with the two as equals, and black dominating the white?
- version30
Clearly, whatever the justifications, the intention is to be provocative. According to Joystiq, the adverts have been created by TBWA an agency that speciliases in 'disruptive' marketing. From the company's website:
"Disruption is the art of asking better questions, challenging conventional wisdom and overturning assumptions and prejudices that get in the way of imagining new possibilities and visionary ideas."

my detective work just resulted in finding out this billboard is in the Van Woustraat in Amsterdam, which is not in the city centre, but more a fairly crowded mainstreet south (de pijp) where a lot of young people live..
so i don't think this was targeted at a huge audience.
more like a one-off shocker..
- Jaline0
I posted that too, Justin, but no one seems to be understanding it.

(Jul 6 06, 13:20)i agree.
it IS racial, maybe not racist, but that seems to be subjective anyway..

Also, a lot of the Americans I've talked to are shocked by the ad, whereas almost everyone else (from the European part of the world, primarily) don't think it's a big deal at all. Possibly for the reasons Janne suggested.
- version30
we're all stupid especially someone else

"Disruption is the art of asking better questions, challenging conventional wisdom and overturning assumptions and prejudices that get in the way of imagining new possibilities and visionary ideas."
seems TBWA is so much better at defending their idea then Sony is.
i agree with that philosophy though. Esp. since i grew up in an area where EVERYTHING was taboo and not allowed to be discussed or whatever (sound like religion, huh!?) with all sorts of terrible consequences for the progress of society there.

1) those ads aren't running in the states. we freak out when a set of titties are shown on tv and it's become quite common in europe. i dont' think many over there would mind it as much as america.
2) americans are fucking moronic and because p fucking c has gotten so out of control there would be a shit storm over actually a very intelligent ad.
3) jessie jackson would have a fucking field day with this
4) i don't find it offensive at all because i read the whole ad and understood it's symbolic for a black psp fighting for control with a white psp.
5) i can see people getting bent out of shape on this but those are the same people who think it's bullshit a white billiards ball hits a black billiards ball into a hole to win a game.
the end.

Thanks for sharing Kona.

this one is a whole lot more innocent, but maybe less intense, schocking and what not..

The thing is... lets say there a black dude thats having a very bad day (got fired from his job, kid screams at him, wife is fucking some other dude) and he gets a flat tire and is asking for change to make a phone call, then a white guy says "if I give you money, your gonna use it to buy crack", then he sees this ad and proceeds to go buy a gun and kill the next guy that says" THERES SNAKES IN THE MUFUCKING PLANE!"
