Enter topic:Last night I was asked to leave a bar here in san diego because i wasnt tipping the bartender who happend to be the owner of a shit hole on bankers hill. this guy has a BMW M5 and a brand 20k harley. Keep in mind i do tip (most genorusly) all the other bar keeps. but to tip the fucker who is making 400% on each of my beers is nuts. futhermore i getting the feeling i was barred because i dont have any tattoos nor do i wear the same wife beater day after day after day....
any thoughts?

Maybe he just got a 25 year payment plan on the M5 and the harley was his mothers?

what band plays that?

A few years back a bartender at a club in NYC threw the 75cent tip I left at the bar back at me. Aparently she was only interested in bills.

in that case i say...get a fucking real job...what is she going to do when she is 55 and her tits are sagging to the floor...working at some "real" dive bar in newark... with her 20 year old loser kids to support...

I never tip bartenders, they steal enough themselves. Waitresses are a different story, they have to walk all day.
- gruntt0
you traditionally do not tip the owner. that's just proper ettiquete.
what a dick.

i agree, and disagree with you..
i don't think you shoulda got thrown out of the bar over that. Does seem kind of elementary...however, i don't believe its really too much of your business how much the guy makes and what he drives, etc. Thats irrelevant to you as a customer, and you thanking him for his service, and as long as his service was commendable.
I kinda take it to heart when I see non-tippers. My brother and sister both work as bartender/waitress, and to see what kind of shit they put up with, especially when they are trying to work when 100 people yelling at them wanting something.
my 2 cents.

this is america. if you wanna good services, pay up. if you don't wanna pay, then drink at home.
if you tip well and get shit services, then that's a whole different story.
what if you drive M5 and your clients decide, well, he already made shit load, so we gonna only pay 50% of what i would normally pay. wouldn't that upset you?
- jdcomba0
i completeley agree, a lot of my firends work in the service industry, and tips are their liveleyhood. they don't make an hourly wage, or most of them. they make ALL of the money from tips. so don't be cheap.
mike jones tippin on 44's

I give 50 cents or nothing seriously. You're just handing me a fucking beer; besides that chances are i've been waiting at the side of the bar for like 5 minutes. And if it's a dude bartender then chances are he will serve all the hot girls before me, even though I have been at the fucking bar for 5 minutes. Give me my fucking beer already.
okay rant over.
- jdcomba0
i feel proper ettiquite is $1 per beer. hey, i'm not made of money, but i do know how the service industry works. once again. most bartenders are paid NOTHING by the owner!

Call me cheap, but I have a real problem with tipping. It's so arbitrary. I mean, who decides how much is appropriate to tip which profession? You apparently *have* to tip bar and wait staff, but you are forbidden to tip people in retail by the owners themselves. I know this first hand. I think that the fact that some folks ONLY work for tips speaks to how fucked up the entire process is. It's one thing to toss a few bits as a personal "thanks for the effort", and another when worked into the bill, in one way or another.

See if you're in the shitty tipper database.
