skt, if you had read the thread, you would have saw where someone else brought that image of mine up. And you also would have saw where I explained those were pieces of a full-fledged Flash website.

probably in ten years, if you are lucky enough to have been put in a position to create an ad like this, and have succeeded in creating it, you will consider it design and include it in your portfolio

Of course it's design.
What you see there is a final product of a designer. It's not to say he was the only one involved, but you have no idea what that photo looked like before the designer got his hands on it. I'll bet you money it didn't come straight from the photog looking like that.
Not only did the designer place the logo where he did, but he no doubt influenced the colors of the photo and placement/cropping as well.

dablammit: I got that. It's time for you to take a break from HGTV.
That show hypnotizes me.
Isn't that lady ginormous?

I think the answer is YES, this is design.

Why care if it doesn't qualify for a design label or not. It meets the pupose: the work SELLS. It pays your bills, it gets in your portfolio.
A carefully sculptured ceramic bowl is art, a manufactured plastic one isn't. You can eat out of both.
Unless you eat out. I'm hungry.

really. when you design "things" for a living the concept is like a nice titty.
you are lucky to look at them, let alone play with one.
