yes i know the sites contain more than just the "bats" appeared data.
but i was pointing out just one of the idiotic argument it makes in this cumulative pseudo-scientific manner that coninces simpletons. That argument is neither here nor there, so why post it? As are most of the arguments on the sight.
anyway

cheers subflux!

And discipler - Which Genesis story are we talking about? For those of you unfamiliar with the bibke there are actually TWO creation stories in Genesis. Go ahead, you can look up a bible online and read the first few pages. Two completely different stories there.
You see, according to most legit biblical scholars, many of the early Old Testament books were shared among the many different tribes of early judaism. The stories differed from tribe to tribe. At one point there was a political coming together of the group and a key to hat was weaving all these similar stories together to create a single narrative for the hebrews as a nation. There are distinct texts that scholars can trace to different tribes and clear places where they came together. It was political as much as it was religious. The two creation stories are likely a compromise...
To me the Bible is a fantastic, deep spiritual book that tells an incredible story of the human spirit as expressed by a singular people throug hthopusands of years of struggle and survival. I am awed by it - but it's not the only deep spiritual book out there by a long shot...

so, in essence, subflux, you're suggesting that dimorphic sexuality arose over competition amongst sexual mates? How did this beneficial mutation occur from a dimorphic entity? I thought science actually observes that beneficial mutations of this nature did not and could not occur?

damn i wish i had real beer, and fat spliff
oi discipler, this website attempts to discuss that point:

Thank you Quincy

yeah, science and the bible don't have to disagree. things like the water cycle, and the earth being a sphere are described in there...my feeling is that they only real disagreement is how stuff began.

Tick, old argument. There are no Genesis contradictions:
- Mimio0
There are two versions(voices) for every story in Genesis.
As far as the universe goes...there is a finite amount of things in it the possibilities/occurances are infinite. Important distinction.

i like you subflux. and you too tick.
Tick what's your background. you seem to have so knowledge here.
hook me up with one of them beers would ya?

Is there any mention of Neandertals in the bibble?
but fossils of neandertals are found all the time.
explain that.

Ah St Augustine, indeed a great man
""Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, [..] and this knowledge he holds as being certain from reason and experience. Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn. The shame is not so much that an ignorant individual is derided, but that people outside the household of faith think our sacred writers held such opinions, and, to the great loss of those for whose salvation we toil, the writers of our Scripture are criticized and rejected as unlearned men. If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods and on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason?"

another short answer :-)
longer gestation and maturation drove the evolutionary need for gendering (someone has to stay home with the kids), competition for sex (and food, etc) is a benefit of the gendering and continues to drive evolution. Amphibs were the transitional with their ability to adapt their gender based on need. As maturation and gestation needs increased with lifeform complexity, gender became hard wired

Discipler interesting that you use Creationist websites to support your argument. You are correct that it is an old argument. An old one in Hebrew scolarship that predates modern christian fundamentalism for sure.
Research some real Hebrew scholarship sites. You can start here:

Last I checked the Jews take the Old Testament very seriously - it's what defines them as a people for thousands of years. Long before Jesus came along...
You Chritian fundies are new kids on the block and use the Old Test to your advantage.
Silly silly discipler...
- Kes0
nice one subflux. good to have your around. That's pretty damn convincing to me. Amphibians are the transition.. of coure!
- discipler0
subflux, of course such speculation is based on the presupposition that benefecial mutations which would/could ultimately produce the complexity of gender, actually occured despite science never observing anything beyond phenotypikal expression within a given genome.

discipler, i just read, again, tht article about bats suddenly appeared, and that is indeed the only argument, one way or another, it actually makes. About species appearing suddenly. Maybe you're lying and didn't read it?
- discipler0
then why do we still have amphibians?
why do we still have primates?
- jakeyj0
discipler, i know you're busy with kes but can you answer my question about creation of the earth in a mature state. thanks.
- discipler0
I linked you up with numerous articles including a QA section of articles. Go back and research, kes.
