Hey, oldtime reader/newbie poster here,
Ok, so I applied for this job, turns out its a junior position, but they are extremely interested. It's been about 2 years since I've been in a full time position but wouldn't mind going back to one for financial security, blah blah etc.
Anyway, I've only applied for a few jobs because contract work isnt too bad plus new jobs aren't exactly coming along each day here in brisbane au, and I haven't heard back from any until this one. My problem is that I'm not sure if I should pursue this one, main reason being crap pay (it kind of gets better after 3 months, but even that is still worse than where I left off from my last full time job). Or, should I wait out a bit longer and keep applying for better ones to come along.
Anyone had any similar situations?

Can you imagine how easy a junior position would be........money would be shit, but no pressure......scanning stuff, searching for pics and doing the odd bit of work.....ahhhhh heaven!

haha good point save.
the other side to it is after the 3 month payrise (which is still worse than my old pay) bonus's come into affect. the way they said it works is if revenue from me is 3 times as much as what im paid, 50% of all revenue that comes in after that I get as bonuses. sounds interesting, but also sounds like a lot of work and money to bring in before seeing anything.

eficks - be careful of these fancy bonus schemes, what happens if you just pull up shy of total income? Do you get anything? If its an all or nothing type bonus, be careful and don't rely on it as part of your income.
Two choices, say yes, work like bugg*ry and then make sure they notice your TRUE skills and get you promoted, or take another job that suits you and challenges you
If they start seeing you for what you are truely worth, but dont give you a pay rise - you will start to be used and abused.
Be careful

Beachboy, thanks, good point.
I have a feeling they have a pretty small team. Maybe I'll go in and see them, see what kind of company they are, and all that.
Cheers.

Had a situation like this recently.
Talked to a good interactive design studio in Manhattan... needed a job reference for a nice lease to be able to move into downtown NYC... took an intermediate position at this design firm and do the requisite 7 -8 hours a day for them while still doing my higher paying freelance gigs as my own studio (they did not have aproblem with this)...Basically, I do easy work-- have it done so quickly that there is always plenty of time for the solo gigs...(where more money is).
So, got my apartment, got my health insurance, get 65K for doing easier, no stress work, and still have the luxary of doing my higher priced stuff solo.
I am not complaining... also keeps the resume going if a senior level position opens at other studios.
Do what you have to to keep working I always say.
