possible new job dilemma

Had a situation like this recently.
Talked to a good interactive design studio in Manhattan... needed a job reference for a nice lease to be able to move into downtown NYC... took an intermediate position at this design firm and do the requisite 7 -8 hours a day for them while still doing my higher paying freelance gigs as my own studio (they did not have aproblem with this)...Basically, I do easy work-- have it done so quickly that there is always plenty of time for the solo gigs...(where more money is).
So, got my apartment, got my health insurance, get 65K for doing easier, no stress work, and still have the luxary of doing my higher priced stuff solo.
I am not complaining... also keeps the resume going if a senior level position opens at other studios.
Do what you have to to keep working I always say.
