my man is very creative and i hoep that he comes up with some clever way to ask me. but its not like i already know.
i want him to make me laugh instead of being sappy. he always makes me laugh. makes me think living with him from now on will be a riot and just a really good time.
size doesnt really matter to me as far as the ring. im just wondering what people usually do. i've nver done this before. :)

If anyone is worried about getting your diamonds guilt free (and be able to tell others to feck off when they bring up the subject here are a few links for Canadian diamonds.

oh, i mis-said that. that should read:
...no concept of reality and was led by advertising and idealized standards of wealth.
and i will not marry again.
talk to you cats later. i am going to unwind in a hot tub for an hour or so.

" There is a large proportion of diamonds coming from the Canadian wilderness into the US over the last few years."
An overwhelming majority of the diamonds being sold throughout the world, including the United States, are conflict diamonds.
The Canadian discoveries are very recent and even though they've ramped up production, Canada lags far far behind (globally in 5th place) in diamond production behind the old familiar killing grounds : Sierra Leone, Angloa, Congo, et al.
Of the very small fraction of Canadian-sourced diamonds, only an even tinier-yet proportion are branded to show their source.
If you want to gamble and hope that the diamond in *your* ring is one of the tiny percentage that haven't gone from Africa -> India -> USA, then it is, of course, your choice.
More about the Canadian diamond operations and how they don't yet account for a "large proportion" of the diamonds on sale anywhere :

This isn't a pissing contest, but try to do the legwork before you prattle. Thanks.

if it was aimed at me, me and my girlfriend is on our 10th year now and I'm about 76kg.
Anyway, I've always been against marriage for the reasons mentioned above but I realize what it would mean to my gf so I'm willing to do it to make her happy. So from that perspective I think $5000 is a bit much. I'm glad she knows where I stand and vice versa. I think...

I bought mine through a Canadian dealer that has a microlaser certification on the edge of the stone. So in my case your argument is invalid.

Speaking of diamonds, I wonder if all the rap artists check for the canadian kind.

btw, we looked at rings together and it made it all the more special. it was like sharing the joy of buying a new Apple Cinema Display. C'mon you know you want it.
And while the surprise element wasn't quite the same (she didn't know when I would pop the question), at least I didn't have to go through wondering if she'd like it or not and if she might say no.

4cY:
"lemme love as a human should"
Right on! That quote almost brought tears to my eyes.

"lemme love as a human should, and not worry about the cultivated sidekicks of it.."
that's so well said 4cY!
it brought a tear to my eye.

My gf will be making way more than I do in a couple of years so it'll be me dropping hints about a big rock. No rings, just a big rock I can pawn.

id also like to add that if you do it right a rogn can be a great investment. i knew someone who used their ring later own for part of a down on a house and just got a smaller ring.

this is a great thread and i agree with most of the points. The girls here (brooke, shellie) is how all ladies should be. Love is pure and pricelss. "Simple, sincere, and to the point."
I don't know how much i'll spend on a right for my future lady but no matter what overall price i want it to be special. special can me a "rock candy ring" or a 4500$ ring. it depends on who you are with.
Stay away from girls who resemble the cast of sex and the city.

i am just sick of money and they way we go around with it.
i want to keep love as far from it as i can.
but then again, i am far too philosophical and blablabla
and will remain single anyhow.
but yeah, best of love and shizz for all, no matter how you show it off...
