" There is a large proportion of diamonds coming from the Canadian wilderness into the US over the last few years."

An overwhelming majority of the diamonds being sold throughout the world, including the United States, are conflict diamonds.

The Canadian discoveries are very recent and even though they've ramped up production, Canada lags far far behind (globally in 5th place) in diamond production behind the old familiar killing grounds : Sierra Leone, Angloa, Congo, et al.

Of the very small fraction of Canadian-sourced diamonds, only an even tinier-yet proportion are branded to show their source.

If you want to gamble and hope that the diamond in *your* ring is one of the tiny percentage that haven't gone from Africa -> India -> USA, then it is, of course, your choice.

More about the Canadian diamond operations and how they don't yet account for a "large proportion" of the diamonds on sale anywhere :

This isn't a pissing contest, but try to do the legwork before you prattle. Thanks.
