Has anyone ever had good results when leaving about a 3mm margin around a color block when doing business cards? or are the printers almost always off?

If you did have a good result was it because you stayed on them to get the cuts right?

I built out a site and a lot of the elements use relative and absolute positioning. I then pass the completed site over to a developer who puts the site in a frame.

He says he needs to do this because SCORM will use a page he's calling in one of the frames to hold data.

Now when you resize the browser the scroll bars go behind the site. Anyone know how to fix this with out rebuilding the site?

I have a blue blurred object against a black background all created in photoshop and when I go to print there is always this light almost gray halo where the blur is. Anyone else ever get something like this? How do you fix it?

How do I create an "action" in indesign? I want to use the find and replace and change an all uppercase abbr. to lowercase and then to small caps.

Also, Is there a standard for how deep an indent should be (2em, 5em)?

Is there a way in indesign cs3 to create a style that has a custom border. For example in Wired they have a bunch of slashes at the bottom of their pull quotes.

Can this be done automatically or do I need to do it manually?

Which typeface would you go with on this cover? Anything you would do to the type?
I know the type is a bit bland, but it's a manual and they have already accepted it for the most part. Also is there anything you would do to spruce it up (it has to be subtle since they have mostly accepted it ) ie. Using flat black (it's 60, 40, 40, 100) to create a subtle pattern behind the viruses, dividing lines etc... This is mainly for my practice.

When you highlight over text you get that block of color behind each line of text. Is there a way to apply that effect (with out the negative effect, just color) to a block of text without creating individual boxes and placing them?

I started to use serifa for body copy but it doesn't look right in long paragraphs. Any suggestions for typefaces to pair up with it?

I did a cover that is 90% pure black with some blue viruses floating across and 2 logos in white and a line of text in blue and white. The logos and text have a few parts with a small text.

Is there anything I need to know to ensure I get the best print possible. Best types of paper, technical things I should do to the file etc...

What do you listen to at work? I've been using www.slacker.com, it allows me to make a list of bands I like but it never suggests new ones so it gets old. I tried pandora for awhile as well.

Wireframe to Build Jun 17, 08, 2:13 p.m.

I built out a site in wireframes (really more of a hybrid of an actual site and wireframes) and it looks alright. Now when I go to finalize it and add color it looks like shit and there is no way they will go with a grayscale site. Fuck I suck at color.

Anyone else find they like their initial sketches better... Do you just force your self to color it up or step back and allow for it to morph into something else?

My programmer and I are about to start building an application in asp.net, He's built a few small things, but never with a designer and never taking full advantage of CSS and I have no experience in it.
