Baseline Grid

I read an article on baseline grid in CSS today, quite interesting:
http://dev.opera.com/articles/vi…

Later today I accidentally found this article (pdf):

Do you know any good reading material on the subject?
How to calculate leading for headings, subheadings, etc?

Is the sound quality worth getting an airport express? Is the playback smooth? Does it slow down the network at all?..

Financial data design examples

I'm looking for good examples of sites/applications presenting financial data.
Could be financial companies, portals, financial pages of news sites.. any links appreciated.

This Bloomberg redesign presentation is neat:

Freelance billing question

I was wondering.. How do you round up the hours?
Say, you've worked for 9 hrs 10 mins. Do you bill for 9, 9.15, 9.30 or full hours, which would make it 10?

Lenovo 22" LCD

Anybody using the Lenovo L220X ? It's 22" with 1920x1200 resolution usually seen in 24" models. That should give some screen real estate with increased sharpness. The panel used is S-PVA, which promises good colour reproduction..

Mac migration

I am moving my account to a new OSX installation. I know I should copy my home folder, but it's full of clutter created by many apps, a lot of which I'm not going to reinstall. I had upgraded the old installation from Tiger to Leopard (which usually leaves some leftover files) and this time would like to start as clean as I can.
What do I copy then? What about fonts (Linotype Font Explorer Managed)?

CMS/blog software advice

I am looking for customizable server side software that would allow to:

- Blog
- Categorize blog entries
- Register users without requiring administrator support
- Allow users to blog
- Let visitors/users rate blog entries in more than one rating category
- Display top ratings/best of in above categories
- Display featured articles
- Keep additional data for each blog entry (ie. some url, tags)

Will Wordpress let me do all that, or should I rather check Drupal and the likes?

Let's Get Lost

Last weekend I saw this amazing piece of cinematography, a jazz documentary on Chet Baker from 1988.
I was lucky to see that in a cinema, don't think it's been released on dvd yet.
Go see it if they have it at a local film club, student cinema or whatever..

Lightroom / Aperture multiuser

I plan to put the entire collection of photos on a network drive and would like to be able to access it from two computers (not necessarily at once).

As far as I can see, neither Aperture nor Lightroom are designed to handle network sharing. Is there a good way to go about it using either of these apps?

Dell 2408WFP

24". Got this delivered yesterday. Seemed an overkill once I turned it on, but I got used to the size in a few minutes.
It did take a while to adjust the colours, as standard settings are strongly oversaturated and sRGB preset is almost colourless. Will need to calibrate it with a spyder one day.
Just one thing - the stand doesn't hold it in its position as firmly as previous models did, I can turn it a little bit left or right, ie. when inserting a memory card into the slot. They used to need more force for pivoting too. Are yours holding firm horizontally?
