From Boss to Client May 20, 12, 5:24 p.m.

Over the weekend I was able to land a new client who was actually my old Boss who fired me about 7 years ago.

I guess after letting me go from his company, he started working with a large marketing company to handle his website. Long story short, they took a ton of his money and left him with a completely torn apart website.

Thought this was a cool Victory! to have him come crawling back :) not really crawling, but you know.

Anyone else ever had a similar experience?

Hey QBN,

So ETM made a really good point about how I've participated in QBN the past few years.

I've made QBN more of a research support center, rather than a community of pers or the people I look up to in Design.

I think ETM is right and I wanted to come out and apologize to those who've noticed.

QBN has helped me so much in the past and continues to help me now, and I think ETM is 100% right... it's time to give back!

So I know that I probably can't help much with knowledge, BUT... I'm sure I can find some nice "Chick of the Days" or "Pic of the Days" for all to enjoy :)

Since first starting here I've grown a lot, but I still feel no where close to where most of you are.

So with that, I'm sorry QBNers for taking taking taking and not giving back.

So I was contacted by the President of a Ducati dealership with a problem I couldn't answer.

He said that there is another website that is kinda on the porn side of things. It's called Off Da Chain Magazine.

So off da chain posted a blog and linked to the Ducati dealerships website, and now when you search Google for Newport Beach Ducati, Off Da Chain Magazine's post is on the list of search results.

Does anyone know of a way that the Ducati dealership could protest or something to have that link removed?

The president was telling me it's not a HUGE deal, but it is kinda a "smutty" site, and he doesn't think it will help their website.

Hope I explained this ok.

Any suggestions?

Some friends and I are starting a snowboarding crew. We are going to have a website with some photos and videos of some of the fun times we have up on the mountain.

Wordpress Site Swap Feb 17, 12, 10:13 a.m.

So I have been working on a new Wordpress site for my client and we are ready to go live with the site.

Currently we have the new website design located in a subfolder of the server, and I'm wondering if you guys now of an easy way to pull the site from the subfolder to the live domain?

I tried simply uploading the Subfolder Wordpress files to the main directory, but that was a big fail and I lost/screwed up most of the Wordpress database.

So some advice would be good :)

Wunderkit not for Windows Feb 16, 12, 4:11 p.m.

I'm not a Windows user, but my client is. And we were going to start using Wunderkit to organize task and projects, but Wunderkit doesn't work for Windows or Internet Explorer. (I don't really blame them)

I'm trying to design an eBay store for my work, and I'm having some issues with what eBay allows you to use in your code.

eBay doesn't allow me to link to outside CSS or Javascript files, and my html per page needs to be under 96k.

Does anyone have experience and some advice (tutorials) for building an eBay store?

So my client had me create a nice looking Keynote presentation for them, but when they tried using WebEx or GoToMeeting, neither platform allowed the Keynote videos and smooth animations display cleanly to the viewers.

Does anyone know a good online presenting platform like WebEx or GoToMeeting that fully supports Keynote?

Hey everyone,

So a friend of mine brought be a pretty great opportunity to become partner in a new marketing firm. He already has a few investors and 4 or 5 clients who all need pretty large and somewhat custom websites.

I'm looking for a developer who would be willing to be an off site reference to start and possibly more in the future.

Here is a current project I have... They would like to have an online store (basic) and they are also looking to have a Live Video Chat feature on the site where users would be able to live video chat with sales associates and place their order. Orders that are placed would then be sent out for delivery (also they would like managed through the site)

So with this project, I would like to have someone with strong code knowledge, so if at some point we get stuck, we'll have someone to go to.

I've posted a lot here and usually get some funny smart ass responses, which I still hope I get. But I am also being serious about this opportunity I have, and of course would work out compensation with this person too.

They want it to be as simple and easy as Skype or Facetime, and they would like for just about anyone to be able to use it.

So I built a contact form for a client where the user will fill out the form and upload their resume to apply for a job.

The PDF resumes go to an "uploads" directory on my server.

Now I'm trying to figure out the best way for my client to access/download the resumes that are uploaded.

I was thinking that I could try and see if I could have a folder on my desktop (mac) that would sync up with the folder/directory on the server. But I don't know if this is possible or the best way.

Any suggestions?
