This has been kicking around on the web for a bit, hope it's not been posted here....it's a FAIL of such spectacular proportions, I thought I'd share it.

So Peter Hook, bassist for Joy Division & New Order has taken to getting flown around the world for DJ gigs. The sad thing, is that he's not actually DJing, just dancing around and 'tweaking' the EQs. I loved Joy Division, I kind of thought New Order were okay (if a bit poppy), so this upsets me a bit.

Check out this YouTube video and the DJ, and the human in you will cringe.

Computers in films May 26, 06, 5:29 a.m.

Is it just me, or do directors / filmakers always get it pretty wrong when they show someone working on a computer?

Example: Someone says "I'm trying to get into this file" then hammers on the keyboard, which magically opens loads of windows on the screen and whatnot..... or the best is when they type on a keyboard and it makes some kind of blipping noise to indicate the typing....?

Anyone else feel the same? Or have I just set up my preferences wrong?

Let's start a really specific list

+ People giving you images from a shoot n a disc with a printed label, which makes the CD fuck up in your drive

+ lazy people using the all caps function in Indesign, so when you use the eyedropper thing it changes everything to caps.

+ when people need you / want you to do something and just march over to your desk and start talking to you when you're in the middle of something else

+ when you spend ages getting a brush in photoshop the right size, then realise you had selected the eraser rather than the clone tool

Somewhat music related.....

1 – a guy across from me always hums what's on the radio. Especially annoying when the music has stopped and he carries on.

2 – a project manager girl has the same constant rotation o falbums she puts on, so we have a two week cycle of Guns & Roses, The Clash, The Specials and Florence and The Machine.

Anyone else got anything like this?

Help.

I've been working on an identity for a salon recently. Not charged much for the job and have done a lot of work on it but she's a friend. She's been very receptive to creative ideas and not fucked with the design too much. She's been quite difficult to get proper feedback / sign off / information from.

Anyway, just sent some foiled cards to print and one of the phone numbers was wrong. My bad, as i left an old number in.

However, I am pretty certain that she approved it and now am tracking back through emails to find out what's what. The requote to re do the job is a fair bit and basically £200 shy of my (very low) fee for the job.

She says she emailed me when i sent her the artwork to change the numbers. I can't find this email.

What do i do?
If it's a joint mistake (as in i didn't put the numbers in properly, and she didn't check the artwork) do i split the reprint?

If it's actually my mistake, do i pay the reprint?
