Classic Rock Crossover

Someone hired me to help brand and market his event promotions company. The focus of the evenings are classic rock artists, kinda like a listening party with a retro sound system. I talked him into finding lookalike actors and hiring a set designer.
As part of the social media strategy we're going to target people who like certain bands. I briefly thought about this last night and was given insight into some local band names. But on a larger scale I imagine a younger person who likes The Black Keys first might appreciate the featured artist (Hendrix) second. Get me?
Does anyone have suggestions of what "newer" bands are a good segue to older bands?
Off the top of my head:
- The Black Keys
- Fleet Foxes
- Red Hot Chili Peppers?
- The White Stripes
- The Strokes
- MGMT
- Arctic Monkeys?
- Nairn1
