Affinity having a 30% discount on everything for Black Friday
- nice!pango
- it was 50% off around feb and march.
if any of you want to wait. otherwise 30% not bad at all.pango - They're nice like that yeahgrafician
- Affinity looks cool, but will NEVER used in a vast majority of design and advertising studios. Unfortunately Adobe will always rule.utopian
- Studios usually buy what designers ask for. Hardware AND software.
If enough designers will ask for Affinity apps, then the studios will complygrafician

Just seen Affinity say something big coming... alternative for AE or XD/Figma??
- da vinci resolve is a decent alternative to aehans_glib
- Maybe they're announcing they got bought by Adobe?Continuity
- Can't wait
does look like "motion" is next in linegrafician - btw all Affinity apps are Mac optimized, you can't believe how fluid they work on latest Macs, Adobe CS is a joke compared to these in speedgrafician
- The latest Publisher update isn't playing well with FontBase on the M1, though, which is a real pain in the arse.Continuity
- I'm seriously thinking about making the jump, I've been playing with Affinity for years now and there are things I would surely miss...oey_oey
- QBN crashed for a bit? My old comment was "I'm expecting an AE alt, but dreaming of a Premiere alt".garbage
- Also any M1 users, how's the Affinity suite been so far?garbage
- ^ FontBase issues in Publisher aside, it and Photo both run super-smoothly on my M1, _but_ I should also say that I'm just an occasional user ...Continuity
- ... and not an hours-on-end user. So, like everything else, YMMV.Continuity
- Can they make all the shortcuts and the layout the smae as AE? I cant be arsed to learn any more warezwoowahesque

Introducing the Universal Licence
- Okay so actually nothing new besides a new version. Old version will not be updated anymore. Everytime there's a new version it's gonna be like this.oey_oey
- Like Adobe CS 5 then Adobe CS6, etc...
No new software besides Publisher for iPad. Good pricing.oey_oey - Well, I kind of appreciate the whole UL thing, but they didn't have to go through all that hype.Continuity
- Agreed. Way too much hype for a V2. I'll still probably get it.garbage
- NBQ002
WTF that's it? lol
- oh... not very exciting.shapesalad
- dude in that video sounded like it's gonna revolutionise the industry with some amazing new features and maybe even a new (AE/ video) app.NBQ00
- I would even perchasse all Apps right now but its just the wrong fucking month for me. Plus, in the middle of the month!!oey_oey

Do they list the improvements over v.1 anywhere?
- Doesn't seem so.
But, now that you mention it, I want to know, too.Continuity - https://affinity.ser…Sparky
- ^ Nice!
I'm not mad at any of this. Think I'll buy it next month.Continuity
- Doesn't seem so.

Not bad, but not what I expected. ... Affinity making a After Effects competitor... that will be another story.

Just downloaded the 30-day trial version.
I have V1 so let's check V2 for the next 30 days.
I'm very curious.I know I can use Adobe Bridge for free.
So now the only Adobe tool that I really frequently use and I still need a valid alternative to is Acrobat DC.There are great alternatives for:
AI, Ps, In (that I frequently use)
Pr, Au (that I sometimes use)
Ae, Lr, Dr (that I never use)
Xd (doh!...)

My software journey ... (apologies in advance for length, wanted to be constructive)
I like them. It's a bit of adjusting but I find it very comparable for overall editing and design. Got the three pack on sale, I think I paid under a $100 for the suite. It opens adobe files, which is really rad. I could finally kick adobe, minus my dire addiction to LR and Photoshop for photos. Still need to push them (exp 16 x 45 megapixel panorama). Adobe creates a psb file to handle the size. Not sure how Affinity will do. Stacking photos as well .... super intense for CPU and RAM. Will see if I can bust.
I love NOVA from panic, finally was able to kick dreamweaver. I really love it. Once you get the hang of it, I found it to be the better tool. Yet, these are not the fastest applications, but if you got some good guts and some patience I found these to be wise investments.
Unfortunately for photos, I cannot shake LR or Photoshop. Adobe has created a symbiotic relationship between the two that is actually extremely beneficial and efficient for editing / post / general photography. They got me. I tired other apps, yeah they cool but there is a reason these tools still dominate the atmosphere, they are good if not the best for overall pixel wizardry. Amazon has an awesome deal ... $120 for both/year. In contrast. $60 for CC monthly.
Premiere is dust for me. Smoking on FCP. Apple plays nice with Apple. From editing to output, FCP just kills it on its own chips. Not doing anything graphicallly intense, but playing with 8k (z9) footage which is a burden on its own.
I am sure there are many other contenders, I just found these to work, as I slowly ease off Adobe.
Bananas.
Not gonna lie ... I did rent Illustrator for a month. Which was kinda rad. I just focused use on that application for that month. Cleaning identifies, eps, ai files and la la la. It's a nice feeling to know you can rent the "needed" application for the month.
My setup
Affinity Suite - Paid $82.99
Nova - Paid $99
Lightroom & Photoshop Crack Addiction ($120 year amazon deal)
FCP - Paid $299= $600.99 Year 1 cost
= $720.99 Year 2 cumulative cost
= $840.99 Year 3 cumulative cost
10 Year Cost = $1,680.99 (*straight use)Vs
One year of CC $60 x 12 = $720 (no ownership)
Year two cumulative cost ... $1440
Year three cumulative cost ... $2160
10 Year Cost = $7,200.00 (*assuming Adobe does not balloon the monthly cost in the next 10 years ... )Hi!
- Shit. Sorry I missed this - I love the cumulative cost breakdown - nice!Nairn

- They've been hyping this; Assuming an
all-in-one app? Figma-ish?! "Pay-to-play", etc.
I'm back on the Adobe "teet" after trying hard to remove myself.
*sigh*ideaist - Canva bought them last year, so do with that what you will. Supposedly all apps are currently free on ipad? Also their forums are now read-only.garbage
