Has anyone bought third party RAM for their Mac...It's $400 at the Mac store for 16GB (8x8).
It's $140 at one of the online stores for same shtuff.
That extra $260 can buy me a fancy-ish dive watch!
What the fuck should I do?

I did for my '09 mac pro long time ago, no issues

Never buy ram directly from Apple. Ever.
Check which speed/type your machine uses and buy from wherever you can find the best deal. Gone are the days of Macs using specialist Mac-only memory - it's all platform agnostic now.
I tricked out my MacBook Pro with an extra 8GB, bought from my local components place. No problems at all.

I used to buy everything from Apple, BUT that's a young mans game.
