Nest.
End of thread.

We had an attempted break in while I was away on work travel - ended up going with Nest as I didn't want to deal with batteries, and could easily hard wire into a box that our porch light uses. Also operates at colder temperatures than most of the others in its class.
Only downside is that recording is proprietary and fee based. I'm sure there will eventually be some way around it, if there's not already.
If only a deterrent, it's well worth the money, but as an aside we've recorded some pretty funny shit on it, including my girlfriend getting her purse strap caught on the screen door handle and falling on her ass.
So, yeah... Nest.
- haha! Yeah, our outdoor lights kept getting knocked over and I figured it was the neighborhood kids. Turned out to be a fat raccoon scratching on them.kona
- I want to see that raccoon footage kona!BuddhaHat
- lol! That and a ton of deer setting off the motion record. Ben mentioned it, I don't pay the fee so I can only view the clips, they aren't recorded. it's weirdkona

I vent through soooooo many "easy to set-up" cameras and most of them are garbage (including some of the s--- posted above).
For EASIEST setup, reliability and picture quality go with DVR recorder and some HD 1080p WIRED camera with nigh vision LEDs.
I found those guys to have stellar reviews and i'm using their stuff - they have a ton of useful videos where they breakdown why some of the fancy s--- (including posted above) will not last when exposed to constant temperature shifts and sunlight:
http://www.backstreet-surveillan…If someone told me the mountain of money i'll wasting by seeking "simple" solution (internal record to SD = fail; record to free app = fail; record to your own DVR = fail)... Oh man!

Y-Cam Home Monitor are great.Theyve just released a home alarm system too that all tie into the same system.
I'd be buying the alarm system it if we didnt already have an alarm system thats tied into a subscription.
